What's new

Work action/slowdown the last few days?

OK, but I guess I am still missing the part where UA was somehow made aware of your skills in this area? Or are you saying that every time UA has an opening in a highly technical area for every specific project, it should interview every CSR and baggage handler on the off chance there is some hidden talent out there?

Hey, if you have these skills, great. Put your resume in for these positions.

Again, you are totally missing the point. I've got skills, no doubt 😀, but so do many others out there. We PAID THESE IDIOTS KERPs! Here's an idea, maybe if Glen truly were the type leader he claims to be and gets PAID to be, he should have searched for these skills within or outside the company LONG AGO. Maybe he should ACTIVELY seek out skilled folks within the company. Maybe that should be part of the otherwise waste of paper called "eye on UA". Again, THIS ISN'T ABOUT ME. It's about management team that can't shoot straight. Frankly, I don't think I'd leave my current gig to write code at UAL anyway. Are you getting this.. IT'S NOT ABOUT ME. It's about management team that couldn't figure out how to optimize a system in 5 F'N YEARS. That means they spent MILLIONS on the idiots they have on staff to solve these problems to then go out and PAY FOR IT ELSEWHERE! And for that, Glen get's about $40 mill... Nice.

Clear Enough?

How do you know Oh Arrogant one that a ramper or CSR doesn't possess an advanced degree and would love to have the opportunity?
When did I say anything like that?

Maybe you better reread the thread. You are missing some verrrrrrrry basic concepts. Come back when you have something sensible to say.

Frankly, I don't think I'd leave my current gig to write code at UAL anyway.
So your whole premise was BS, because even if UA had known about your vast skills, you wouldn't have been interested in the project?

So in other words, this problem started long before Tilton and the current management came on the scene, and could have been resolved even before he started? Yet he gets all the blame?

Bear, WADR, are you really that slow or are you trying to be a jack@ss? How many times must I tell you, IT'S NOT ABOUT ME. Here, let me try it again IT'S NOT ABOUT ME. Again? IT'S NOT ABOUT ME. One more time? IT'S NOT ABOUT ME.

The point is that this company's management couldn't solve a simple problem in 5 years, despite spending huge sums to retain the best "talent".

In case you missed it Bear, IT'S NOT ABOUT ME. The point is I could think of several folks off the top of my head who could have done the program in short order. You see? IT'S NOT ABOUT ME. Apparently, the company hasn't really looked for talent.

Yup, the problem was here before Glen. But you see, Glen was goign to fix all that. We were a poorly run company on the verge of BK. To fix it, we hired Glen. We paid him BIG money. Now we have a poorly run company that has been thru BK, slashed salaries (well, most salaries anyway...), slashed jobs, and is STILL POORLY MANAGED.

Bear, IT'S NOT ABOUT ME

I don't understand how saving manpower numbers to diminish service levels makes any sense. I understand the risk management concept, but at the levels we are currently at, it seems as if it's a deliberate calculation on the part of Management to make employees look bad in the eyes of the customer. We're tops in complaints (tied with USAir), so you would think that Management would do something to address service levels. Instead, they buy collapsable 'dual jetways' in Denver...Go fig...
