Workers in the Dumps, Wall Street on Cloud 9

Dan Akins, who is cited in the article was AFA's financial analyst during BK #2...concession 2 and 3.
We had ECLAT for BK#1; concession 1..who IMO, appeared to be the biggest deceivers.

During one of the MEC meetings in 2002, It was motioned and it passed on never using ECLAT as a financial analyst for AFA on our property again. Funny thing, Doug McKeen ended up working for ECLAT 2 years later.

Great article.

I've been saying for the past 5 years... from day 1, at the table, to the media, to the public....all of the noise of going over the cliff from USAirways during these BKs was based on deceptions of over inflated labor costs and underestimated assets. We even put Dan Akins on the witness stand at the BK hearings to testify that the company was less than forthright with Labor and the courts.

In short...just plain lies from U management and the Ring leader and union-buster himself...Jerry Glass.

No. I won't ever be over this experience. I keep it fresh in mind for anyone who asks.

Good article but that website is way too leftist for me -- and I'm a Democrat.

I thought this was interesting:

Historically non-union, Delta urges workers to "Keep Delta My Delta." But what does that mean when Delta's "reorganization plan" calls for eliminating 7000-9000 jobs by the end of this year. So much for "Keep Delta My Delta."

So Delta was oppossed to a US merger because of the potential loss of jobs, but their own proposal is going to eliminate thousands of jobs anyway.

PB,

The chairman and CEO of Eclat is J. Randolph Babbitt, who was collecting some big fat paychecks as president of ALPA while his fellow Eastern Airlines pilots were standing in line at the unemployment office.

As PJ O'Rourke would say, "A Parliament of Whores".
