Delta Air Lines to Leave Trade Association in April 2016

simply shows that DL is beholden to no one over its own interests... and doesn't hurt in the midst of the DOJ's investigation of the big 4 airlines.

DL marches to a different drummer and still wins.

If somebody was ever looking for a definition of a DL fankid cheerleader - well there it is.

I fail to see how this is a positive for DL. I don't see it as marching to its own beat so much as alienating everyone else. That doesn't seem win-win to me, especially when it comes to things like Next-Gen ATC issues...

About the subject and not just one poster

Why is it so hard for some to believe that Delta will make decisions for Delta, employees, shareholders, and customers. NOT American, Alaska, A4A Etc

looky here.... a REAL DL employee who can recognize that DL's interests are its own and no anyone else's.

DL has no interest in being a part of an organization that promotes interests that are different from its own.

Strangely, that, like so much else becomes a whipping post for some of the low-information posters that this board attracts who can't actually debate the issues.

In of itself, that's not a bad idea. However, there are some things/issues where DL can't operate in a vacuum no matter how bad it wants to. Next Gen ATC being one of them.

I guess issues such as opposing EU's carbon taxes on airfares and advocating ATC improvements in USA, or NMB issues, for example, are of no interest to DL.
Or is it perhaps that a certain DL fankind cheerleader poster doesn't have enough mental horsepower to grasp the issues?

and DL is MORE THAN CAPABLE of figuring that all out.

The industry has existed in groupthink mode for decades.

When DL is roundly regarded as the best run airline in the Americas, they are more than capable of knowing what is good for themselves and where they need the help of others.

And no one has indicated exactly how DL and A4A differ... but DL is pushing for ATC reform and has for years. To somehow think that DL can't achieve its goals without holding hands with others is foolish.

yes...arguing that DL can't think for itself is indeed hubris.

that is the issue... you and others charged that DL can't do what it needs to do without hanging out with other airlines.

It is nonsense for you to think that DL hasn't thought thru what they will lose AND gain in the process of all of this.
