DL ending SEA-KIX

sad but the Japanese market is undergoing dramatic changes as a result of the Japanese government's decision to devalue the yen.

UA is downgrading its SFO-KIX service from a 744 to a 787 over the period of a couple years while AA is reducing its service to less than daily in some of its hub markets.

DL probably didn't help SEA-KIX by upgauging SEA-NRT to a 744 for the summer while also adding SEA-HND.

There will be more SEA-Asia flying as DL does what everyone expects which is to increase its Asia presence outside of Japan and reduce its dependence on Japan.
At the same time, DL has enormous capacity to downgrade its NRT operation and still keep it very viable as a hub.
The outcome of the HND slot awards could be very significant to DL but the reality is that there simply aren't enough slots to meaningful change any US or Japanese carrier's need for NRT.
