mech/lead moc pay rates

I know the base pay rate for a/c mech.
 
But how much more do crew chiefs get paid?
 
Are they considered MOC and what is the $1 hr premium that they get.

We don't have so called crew chiefs.
 
Here they are called Leads.  The buck an hour is their premium.
 
MOC is a different grade and pay rate.

So leads only make $1 more than the base Mech rate

Yes and Yes.
 
MOC makes a little shy of six bucks more, base rate, than an AMT.

Do crew chiefs pass out the jobs as part of the iam, or does management assign jobs to the individuals on the crew?

In some of the stations most of the senior guys do not want to put up with the BS for an extra $1, so they get these wonders who have been with the company less than a year to take lead jobs!!  They company loves them as they tell these young guys how and who they want to do the jobs....vs the contract which states "Lead Mechanic , he shall be the employee who assigns, directs and approves the work of mechanics".  They are in turn just glorified clerks....

Very true. Some also have aspirations of being management someday...

If they want people who are actually qualified, they would need to pay a lot more than a dollar.
