The merger "is likely to lead to less service to small communities, reduced competition in larger markets, and higher fares," Rep. James Oberstar (D-Minn.) said in the letter dated June 5.



Aaahh! so it's the merger that's going to lead to less service and higher fares ... silly me, all along I thought it was price of oil and the pending recession that was to blame <_<

Ask Obestar to let the Fed become the 'Lender of last resort' for the airlines like it did to facilitate JPM 'buying' Bear Stearns.

No one on the street is going to lend the airlines the time of day, the government has set the precedent with JPM, time for the government to open up that window.
