WN Mechanics seek mediation

Update #58 is out. Of course the company doesn't want to advertise the "language" removed or stricken from the book or previous offers. You just gotta love how this company tries to be so secretive on the "language" changes. But yet again, the company cannot meet until after mid July and only 3 days set for the month of July. Yea, this company really wants to get something done, NOT...
Thanks to the NC for being deeply prepared and taking the time for digging thru everything that the company is trying to get around us. Next update will come after July 19th.

AMFA - SWA Technician Negotiations Update #58

You can bet McCrady and minions are hard at work crafting their slanted video before end of month as promised. Our NC would be well advised to quickly give a complete breakdown of the company's new and complete "comprehensive" proposal, you know, the "comprehensive" SUPPOSAL we've had since last August.

Heard today that the company's response to the material specialists "no" vote on their TA was to pull everything off the table and start from scratch. Can anyone verify this?

Once again no movement. AMFA just needs to start walking out of first day of nego's after they ask one question. "Have you moved any on economics and scope?" If co. responds, nope. Out the door the NC walks and back to their cities. Start taking control of the nego's like the pilots would, simple as that.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. The proof is undeniable that the AMFA is a complete failure now and something you should rid yourselves of. The AMFA has none and can't gain any respect from SWA Management. It's being treated and maybe rightfully so as an industry joke now.

Aircraft Mechanics at SWA need to rid themselves of this failed experiment AMFA.

Way to go Local 32. I fully support you guys. Wish I could be there to help show support just like we had support from you guys here in Dallas. Local 11 should be doing the same thing and maybe it is being planned as it has been discussed in the past. Remember what the Pilots did? And that helped them get to a fast agreement. Hope you guys are able to take pics and post for us to see. Good job and good luck.

Press Release: SWA Mechanics to Hold Informational Picket At Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport June 27, 2017 -- Bret Oestreich, National Director of the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA), released the following statement: “After almost five years of unproductive negotiations with Southwest Airlines led by CEO Gary Kelly, more than 100 members of the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association Local 32 will be conducting an informational picket at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport on Friday, June 30."

Phoenix? Seriously, Phoenix? Is that the best the mighty AMFA can come up with man? That's terrible. Why not SWA HQ? Why not all across the Nation? Why not picket Executives Homes and Communities?

And look at the Map. They've been pushed down to the end of the Terminal? What passengers are they going to inform down there?

You guys really need to rid yourselves of this abomination AMFA. It's completely useless.

Why do you care?
All you industrial unionists can do is get a blow up rat and drag a coffin through the streets.
TWU/IAM/IBT have no power. They killed unionism, and it isn't coming back.
At least AMFA is looking out for the M&R.

Oh and xUT "Industry Leading" contract would also mean "JOBS, JOBS, JOBS" A person actually has to work somewhere to say they are a part of that industry leading contract.

Now please be "honest" to this conversation and answer a very simple question without all the attached BS.

How many "Aircraft Mechanics" currently work for SWA?
And:
How many "Aircraft Mechanics" currently work for AA?

Doh!...

It isn't about how much the company will pay at this point.
The company already offered money in their last comprehensive proposal to us.
The company is asking for language changes in our contract that we would not vote for.
Instant deal killers and the company calls them "must haves".
A mediator can point out that these changes are not warranted, and can urge the company to seek different approaches.
We need a third party to oversee the process as long as the company wants to make changes to our contract as if we were in bankruptcy court.
It is all about their hard line on language and work rule changes. Wage rates and retro is another discussion.

Before you ask, I wont be detailing these must haves.
An internet forum is not the place to argue about these differences, and both sides arguments can be misconstrued.

Some of the back and forth has been documented in letters to and from the company.

Both sides dispute what the language changes can mean for our members.

The post above (2 years ago) is still the same situation.
We have already been offered industry leading pay (which is still not enough) to throw out our job protecting scope language.
We will continue to keep working under our current agreement until the company starts to negotiate our scope protections in good faith.

If we were in another union, they would have already tried to force us to vote on this POS offer from the company.

I am proud of our union negotiating committee for holding the line and not caving to these demands from the other side.

Keep up the good work.

Ok so I guess it's your contention then that the full dues paying membership should never be allowed to vote and let their collective voices be heard.

I'm not a fan overall of the IBT but yes they did let their members voices be heard and on that first vote the message was sent with a resounding 95% NO.

I guess you (And your leadership) don't have as much confidence in the total membership as you may try to pretend?

When should the members voices be heard BTW? Maybe in another 5 years?
