In another brilliant cost cutting move, AA has begun the process of hiring 11 supervisors in aircraft maintenance at JFK ALONE?
11?, On top of the already bloated 15 they already have.

11??????????????????????

How many mechanics, and how many of the current 15 are planning to retire in the next few months?

Didn't you know the more soupervisors there are, the faster the aircraft get fixed? 26 (total) of the cretins ought to get things rolling (chairs, that is).

1 soupervisor for every 15 people - that's efficiency, folks - how about 1 souper per every 75 or 100 workers?

No retirements planned. They are also hiring mechanics as well as they have not replaced ANYONE who either retired or quit since 9/11.
The overtime has been plentiful as a result.

And before anyone responds with "Well, enjoy the OT." That's not for me...Others, yes, not me.
As for the increase in management, they are also in the process of DE-RISE..When they made all level 4 supervisors Level 5's a few years ago, they have since realized that EVERYONE cannot be a chief...You need some indians as well.

This action is typical of AA. Increase the supervisors and the work will get done faster.

They will have kids from rockwell collins telling people with 20, 30, 40+ years experience how to fix an aircraft.

You dodged the rest of the question.....

How many mechanics today? And since you mentioned it, how many newhire AMTs?

I know you guys are unmanageable, but the company feels otherwise.

Soupervisors have nothing to do with managing anything, rather, they exist in their numbers solely to give those higher on the food chain someone to blame for their own shortcomings.

I hope you're applying for one of the positions. After all, management is a good ole' boys club so you're set for life no matter how little you contribute, right? And it doesn't take any special skill to get hired, right? And the pay has to be more than you have been making, right?

If you can fix an airplane, you can certianly supervise others who fix airplanes.

I thought they existed so you guys had someone to bash. Silly me.

Some of us take pride in ourselves/trades to the extent we wouldn't consider becoming corporate whores or some lowlife's yes-man, simply to get a paycheck.

An old adage states that "If one can't do, one manages or teaches" - at least in the case of American Airlines, that's very true. Applying for a position in American's management, to me, is affirmation that one is totally worthless.

I would love nothing better than soupervison that could actually understand the task at hand and was able to do something besides agree with their boss.

My only issue with you is that you defend the stupidity without fail - and you don't even work there anymore.

Oh, I understand. For some people, it's more important to be able to play the martyr card than making all the money you can from your employer. Where would we be without the principled elite who can afford to earn substandard wages throughout most of their career in the (futile) hope that someday their paycheck will reflect their superior values?

Sounds to me a lot like the numerous excuses that battered women advance to explain why they stay with the abusive rapist spouse.
