What's new

11, count em, 11 supervisors to be hired at JFK

I have heard they are going back to the days of the DC-10 and the on time machine...
Remember back then when there were supervisors who sat next to the crew chiefs. I guess they dont like the way things are being run by the unionized folks. So the answer is to put babysitters with zero line experience next to the crew chief so that we can produce more work. This should be fun to watch

You dodged the rest of the question.....

How many mechanics today? And since you mentioned it, how many newhire AMTs?

I know you guys are unmanageable, but the company feels otherwise.
Of the 300-400 mechanics at JFK less than 10 are new hires.

How many mechanics, and how many of the current 15 are planning to retire in the next few months?

My guess is that AA expects some/most of the current 15 to terminate their employment in the near term. Probably involuntarily, since AA is hiring 11 replacements. I've seen similar overhauls before.

After all, if the current management is as worthless at JFK as has been constantly alleged here, at some point the big, bad, greedy, evil, top level management says "enough" and cleans house.

Clean house....what's that! The only thing AA knows how to clean is OUR pocketbook.

Oh yea, I`ve seen that tactic. Many years ago I was on a 757heavy/light C line. Overtime was CONSTANT 4over 4 early everyday 12/12 on weekends. No we were not screwing them we had THAT much work. Long story short they flooded our dock with supervisors to "help with auto t/a", right. Out I go for a post dock engine run with a STACK of paperwork. Yep you guessed it they sent a supervisor to watch. Well about 1/2 way thru or 4 hour engine run I turn around and the supervisor was ASLEEP. ROTFLMAO.

And they will continue to clean our pocket books until we show a backbone! It's beginning to seem like the international is setting up our negotiating team for failure. With no one person in charge of all the locals, I really don't see how we can offer any kind of resistance. The way I look at it, the company / international twu, will lead us into an ambush, if we ever did go to battle.

Uncalled for clown. You know nothing of him or his skills.

Feelings aren't hurt, I assure you - this is just another management twit of which there are too many on this site trying to get us to think like the company - and the second POS put on ignore today.

Oh, but to be in charge of lightning bolts for around ten minutes ...

My only issue with you is that you defend the stupidity without fail - and you don't even work there anymore.

Goose, I'm not defending anything, but knowing you have 26 supervisors/managers is a useless number if you don't know how many people they're overseeing/managing.

Finally, an answer.

Assuming L4's reporting to L5's, it looks like a 1:15 or 1:20 ratio of supervisors to workers, and 5 per shift plus day off relief.

For an airport like JFK, I'm not sure that's so unreasonable given the real estate. But it's also more than what I would expect. I'd think something closer to 1:25-1:30, which is what they have over at the terminal for clerks & agents.

I hope you're applying for one of the positions. After all, management is a good ole' boys club so you're set for life no matter how little you contribute, right? And it doesn't take any special skill to get hired, right? And the pay has to be more than you have been making, right?

If you can fix an airplane, you can certianly supervise others who fix airplanes.
Maybe Hopeful does not possess the requisite LIAR GENE and therefore would not like to sully himself.

So you are declaring "jihad" on your own employer. Smart strategy, that. Keep going that route and you'll end up in front of a bankruptcy judge having your paycheck cut (yes, even deeper from the concession levels).

After that you'll see another bankruptcy judge for your personal filing.

That is the only way an airline settles a CBA, always work by the rules, its their own policy.

See once again a passenger thinks he knows how labor relations works in the airline industry.

Every time we got a CBA at US it was during the 30 day cooling off period or when we went on strike.

You know full well that the Good ol Boys Club is the greediest union of all..,they are the upper crust of the company..not low level supervisors. And you are correct, it takes NO skill to get hired as a supervisor. The company wants BABYSITTERS in these positions, not experienced mechanics. If they wanted experience they would pay accordingly.

you don't have a problem when company threatens BK to rape US like they did in 2003. What goes around comes around. Only way employees can combat a bunch of greedy POS is to do your job VERBATIM. BTW, the company promotes working by the book VERBATIM. Live by the sword, die by the sword. Just work safe and DO YOUR JOB.....NOTHING WILL FLY!!!!
That's my definition of "Jihad". 8 years and counting pal!
