Hope everyone is ok. Wonder if someone at CDG cleaned the ovens with Easy-Off and didn't thoroughly remove all traces? That stuff emits some deadly fumes.

The news story says the five FAs were in the "cooking area." Pretty obvious that the writer has never flown on an airplane, as the term "galley" is usually repeated several times by the pilots and/or pursers on most of my flights (as in "stay the hell out of"). Most people are familiar with the term.

... also the area from which slaves row the ship or just a term for a slave powered ship. The writer was just using the wide-ranging "artistic license" available to "journalism".

Re: aircraft, all nautical terms apply - you are correct.

Good news: All passengers and crew are fine and another plane has been sent from LHR to pick them up:

Nice Southwest-style accomodation to have another flight stop along the way to pick them up.

This incident also shows how inept AA is with adapting to social media.... When news leaked out about this, several people were on Twitter asking the official AA @AAirwaves account for info.

Instead (and predictably), no responses at all. And none from them on the 9th, 10th, or 11th to various customer inquiries....... they have this huge opportunity to engage customers and provide info on a realtime basis, yet they squander it for whatever reason they do....

This adds a whole new meaning to "The lights are ON, and NOBODY is at HOME"!! or, "Sitting on their THUMBS"!!

AA does not pass up a chance to err on the wrong side of a situation. That is, all those Management types residing in their cubes in the CRYSTAL PALACE on Amon Carter Blvd, are ABSENT, when adversity knocks at the door, or in one of our "Silver Bullets" at some far flung airport away from homeplate or its intended destination. When the 'Whistle Blows', the Crystal Palace empties like a broken dam. Is anyone there to make a decision, much less answer a TWITTER inquiry? NO!!
ONLY the cleaners!

The incident ended with no serious illnesses. This is sliding into the "all AMR management is inept/evil/greedy" pit. The thread is closed.
