Maybe Dougie and gang will change it, he is all about new liveries after a merger.

I sure hope so. I think Horton decided on this paint scheme knowing employees would hate it.

As I've posted before, I'm glad that Horton settled on such an awful livery - imagine the conflict many AA employees would face if he had chosen an attractive, iconic livery (like the 1968-2012 classic) instead. Many employees are predisposed to hate anything he chose, so it's a good thing that his interim livery is so ugly.

So why does it have a german registration number and flag on the tail?
I know its assembled at Hamburg.
When does it get an 'N' number?

In an airliners.net thread, someone said that the plane is registered in Germany until delivery to AA, when the German flag will be removed and the plane registered with the FAA. Until delivery, the plane belongs to Airbus, not AA. Presumably, Airbus will test-fly the plane prior to delivery, so it's registered with the German aviation authorities.
