Well the last planned US Logo Jet or Special Scheme Aircraft for now, A-319 N717UW has just arrived at CLT after painting at ROW and again Jay Selman was on hand to photograph her CLT arrival.

Again lots of white but the parts that are painted I think look pretty nice. No planned routings as of yet.

It needs more silver. The blue seems abit off. Is it different in person?

What are the odds of a New England Patriots A-319 joining the fleet?

Not the best graphics -- you'd think we could have had better art on the tail. Still, it's nice to see a Panther's plane.

Definitely the tail looks bad. The plane would have looked better with the flag on the blue tail with the Panther on the fuselage. I wonder why they didn't put the Panther logo on the tail like they did with the rest of the NFL logo jets?

It's a bit disappointing after the great job they did on the Steelers plane. The tail looks like they couldn't figure out what to do with it. The panther should have been on the tail. I think they should have made the fuselage look like the panthers claws had ripped it open. Oh well it's not the biggest thing screwed up around here right now.

 Sorry, someone rushed the graphics on this one. The panther should have either been on the tail or the nose of the plane. It's very LLC.

Though the thought of doing these logo jets was a "cute" and novel idea to try and boost morale are we surprised that so many of them are botched? The PSA plane had it's smile fixed, the blue on the Piedmont plane was WAY off and the Allegheny plane STILL has black titles instead of red. The state planes are cheap and to be perfectly honest a waste of time. The Steelers plane whether your a fan or not definitely is a cool plane right along with the Eagles jet. That Panther plane looks like it was designed on a napkin in a bar drunk. Oh wait a minute......

Since several of the last couple of Special Schemes did not turn out so special, and many employees that where looking forward to them where dissapointed in how they turned out (mostly all white) here is what Tempe could have done. For each Special Scheme 3 or 4 could have been drawn up and then any active employee could have gone on the hub and voted on their favorite design. Alaska Airlines, which have some really beautiful and creative Special Scheme aircraft recently did just this. In celebration of their 75th Anniversary they wanted to do one of their 4 old liveries from their 75 year history and the employees ended up choosing the oldest one, seen below.

It was actually my last choice of the 4 if I was voting but I really like the way they let the employees decide.

For anyone not familar here are a few of their other recent Special Liveries for comparison to ours !

My point is what do you like better. something really striking and eye catching like these
or a mostly boring white airplane with a nice design on maybe 15 pct of the back of it ?
Special schemes are a GREAT idea IMO but they should be "Special", not simple !

Coments appreciated !

They blew it on a very BORING tail design. Maybe it will not look as bad in person but the tail and color tone of blue doesn't look right. (Reminds of the "Piedmont" plane........still doesn't cut it for me).
