Abortion: Which Side Is Fabricating?

I don't like this even a little and NOT for the reason you might think.

If you take out all of the moral implications an abortion is nothing more then elective surgery. Ergo if you cover abortions then logic would dictate that Boob Jobs should also be covered as that is elective surgery as well

Nothing more! Nothing Less.

If you don't believe in abortion - DON'T have one!

I'm with you 100%, what people choose to do is up to them, just don't use my tax money for things like said elective surgeries.

What kind of health care plan kills unborn children? Just horrible.

Using Taxpayers dollars to be used for abortions, there is no way I would support that ever.

If someone wants to terminate the life of their unborn child, they can pay for that out of their own pocket.

Its one thing to have a choice in these terrible situations, its quite another to forward the bill to the taxpayer.

this makes me sick!

most of these young women view an abortion the same as going to the dentist for a teeth cleaning.

and an inconvenience that can easily be taken care at the time ... later down the road turns to psychological guilt.

what they don't tell those young woman at the abortion clinics is the pain most will go through down the road.. when their mind is in a different stage of life.. and they finally comprehend what they have really done..to their child..

and cant go back and fix it.

Do you pay premiums into a group medical health coverage plan?

Don't look now, but you may already be assisting in paying for them.

Does your healthcare plan fund abortion?

"Forty-six percent of workers today in employer-based health insurance finance abortion. I think this is critical. Many of you know people who consider themselves very good, solid citizens [and] who consider themselves pro-life. They go to church on Sunday; but on Monday morning, they finance abortion. They don't know they finance abortion, they do not conscientiously do it -- but they do do it. And they do it through private health insurance. They do it because the plan covers it," Moffitt pointed out.

Moffitt also notes that 86 percent of employer-sponsored plans cover artificial contraception. He advocates three policies to restore patients' freedom of conscience: fixing the federal tax code to create fairness in health coverage; offering values-driven healthcare plans; and eliminating barriers to purchasing health plans across state lines. He believes there needs to be a national consumer-driven market for health insurance.

I agree with you that all the plans should exclude abortion coverage except under certain conditions. That is what is in my employer provided plan. Here is the section copied from my plan:

Not covered:
• Procedures, services, drugs, and supplies related to
abortions except when the life of the mother would
be endangered if the fetus were carried to term or
when the pregnancy is the result of an act of rape or
incest
• Genetic testing of the baby’s father

The Capps amendment should and will be adopted to the final version of whatever plan sticks.

that is probably true and it makes me more sick.. on top of the fact they want to send the bill to the taxpayer on top of it all!

its just sickening!

I am willing to bet that 90% of all people who have health coverage have never read more than the highlight sheet sent out every year...at least until they get a bill and find out that something was not covered, or out of network!

I dont think that is true!

that is quite the assumption!

just because someone recognizes the importance of health coverage does not mean they skim over the part "we cover abortions too" !

Relax. That is not what I said.

And what I said was not about you.

Obviously if we are talking about it here, all of us are probably very familiar with what ourcoverage is. Maybe I do not give enough credit to the masses. Ninety percent may be a little high figure.

I am thinking in general terms based on what I am reading not necessarily focused on your comments.

and of course it wasn't about me!

but!

I think more than 90 percent of people do read more than the highlight fact sheet was sort of the point!

and they probably cover some abortions..

my personal opinion abortion procedures for the sake of not assuming any responsibility is simply irresponsible with their own bodies!

these people who go out and get "knocked up" and then a quick visit to the Doctor is the way to go and then right back out in the same scene again and its no big deal if it happens again is just terrible and it happens just like that all the time!

(yes there are procedures that are necessary for severe cases.. in some life saving situations for the mother, but most of them are done because they can) that is a problem!

No matter what your beliefs on abortion, tax dollars should not be used for elective procedures.

I understand that, but the topic of this thread is Abortion. and you are correct, that is considered elective if it is performed excluding the life saving case of the mother.

(and if that is what they expect Tax payers to cover in that proposal, the "elective" ones?)

I am not against a woman's right to choose (even though I personally would not support that procedure) I am basically against the fact someone would expect someone else to cover the bill.. for their own actions as they claim a "right to do as they please with their body".

if they expect to cover abortions in this Health Care bill for "elective reasons"..then there better be a limit like one time or some will keep coming back and handing you the bill!

Abortion coverage will never make it out of the Senate Committee version.
