I heard a rumor that a DC-9 capt in MSP requested that one of his engines needed to be serviced with oil. A few minutes later a scab came to the cockpit and asked him where to add the oil. The irate capt heard that steamland was observing in the world club lounge and he proceeded up to confront the bastard. steenlard in a fit kicked over a chair.

I heard something about this from a NW captain. Supposedly at some sort of meeting with NW management the subject of bonuses,stock maturities,and compensations were brought up and Steenland flipped out, kicking over chairs and yelling. :down:
Obviously someone must have hit a nerve there on the subject.

Both are correct.... sort of.

DDT is a pesticide which is now banned in the US (back in the 70's) and most countries. Probably the most effective at fighting malaria, however it also has residual impacts on birds and other wildlife.

DEET is still commonly used today in insect repellants.

Here’s how I really feel about all of this. I think both NWA and AMFA were too extreme in their positions. However, neither the company nor the union is being hurt by the current situation; only the 4,500 mechanics and their families that lost their livelihoods. If the contingency plan fails and Northwest restarts negotiations, it won’t make-up for the wages the mechanics have lost or the loss of NWA's credibility in the eyes of its employees, customers, and investors. However, if Northwest is successful, its strategy will become the blueprint for busting unions everywhere, not just the airline industry; an outcome neither of us relish. I'm not predicting either outcome here, only what I believe will be the long-term effects.

So, there you have it. Regardless of what happens, everyone will have lost something. I can only hope that the both sides constructively apply the lessons learned in the future.
