Isn''t this about your third "goodbye"?
Sheesh, leave already!
Everyone will miss ya.
But ya think it deserved a thread?

It''s obvious that the UA board has become a place where people from other airlines try to provoke people from United. Many (including myself) advocated not responding - there by pushing the thread out of view. Yet it never sticks.

I don''t know what came first - the chicken or the egg here: whom provoked whom.

Bottom line, it''s not like it used to be. It''s the same so and so states, so and so replies, so and so retorts, so and so pastes a reuters article, so and so uses bold, blah blah blah.

I just can''t frequent the board anymore - it''s like a soap opera.

In any event, good luck to all UA employees - I know you will emerge. I''m still a loyal customer!

Regards

UC

I think it does deserve a thread. And if you happen to read this, ChicagoUnited, you will be missed. I agree that certain people have transformed this place into a United bashing, negative BS site.

It''s a point worth driving home. I for one will stick around to defend the cause and rebut the constant negative twist of old you-know-who.

Come back and visit once in a while.

Why do any of you let some of these people bother you? When you see their post/reply just skip it. This board doesn't need to get personal. Life is too short to let this get to you.

Maybe the makers of Ideal BB need to offer a block option like in some instant message programs. Just a thought.

I know it takes time to get through the chatter sometimes, but it is good to have a customers objective opinions.
Happy flying.

United Chicago:

Sorry to see you leave the Board. No one should feel they have to leave because the Board has resorted to responses from employees to a particular employee from another airline. The better way to handle your frustration with the Board would be to start a new thread on a topic of interest. If the new topic gets out of hand, start a new thread. I tend to agree with you though. I personally get bored with the UA Board because of the same reason, but I continue to monitor.

Adios, my friend, and thank you for your United loyalty and choosing to fly United! With good customers as you are, we look forward to serving you in the now and in the future.

Thats a good post...

You know..people...don't blame Chip Munn for your ills on this forum...and for that matter this is NOT a forum exclusively for UAL supporters. It is a forum open to all. You people remind me of the dysfunctional family that believes if you just don't make waves, all will be fine. Talk good of the company and it will get better. WRONG!! Wake up people. IF for nothing else, Chip Munn stirs your lazy asses and gets you to get out of the denial you all seem to be in concerning your company and actually THINK. Your company is NOT out of the woods. You think your management team is going to let your pension issues go away? I will promise you it will decide when or if you come out of Ch. 11. Get ready. You think things are better because the govt thru a few bones the airlines way and people are flying like crazy at cheap prices? Again, wrong. And for those of you thinking the govt will spread out your pension payment, maybe you should ask those at U what happened in congress when they tried that. Oh, I forgot, you are United, how could you ever learn anything from your much despised US Airways.

And finally, we don't all agree with Chippy over at US Airways, so please, PLEASE...give the remaining 29,000 (down from 50,000) just a little credit to understand reality. The company is no more or no less as xxxxxed up as United, but the reality at US Airways is that our management is making no attempt to increase revenue and yes it appears they are lining us up for a sell off or merger. They are beating us in the ground and breaking contracts left and right. It ain't pretty. I am not as optomistic as Chip Munn that we will survive. Any talk of us buying any of your assests makes me one over laughing so hard. We don't even have the money to give the flight attendants a new work tie or uniform...have had the same since 1986. How the xxxx does anyone think we can afford your assets?

And you know, I would never want any equally xxxxxed up company to buy us like United. What, trade seats on the Titanic. I saw how much you guys fought the last merger. I know when I'm not wanted. Scre that crap. You can have your Pacific flights, your South America flights, your 777's and your 747-400's. I can see them anytime when I purchase an ID95 on United. Infact, I probably pay less as an U employee than you do on your own carrier. Great passes...great employee relations...yeah I'm itching for a merger.

Lastly, the man leaving the forum acts like Chip Munn owns the boards. His is but a small amt of posting. Its just that he presses you guys buttons. Look at your list...very few are actually from Chip. And you guys are MORE than happy to come on over to the U board for debates...but that would be no fun...you can't tell us anymore bad news than what we hear on a daily basis, but remember this forum is not open to any one airline or you would have a secret code and an employee number to enter or some such foolishness.

I hope you guys survive and thrive. I have NO loyalty with this industry, but please, most of us at US Airways are trying to deal with our own problems. You are 4 times bigger than us..that means 4 times the problems, so no thanks.

I certainly understand your sentiments United Chicago. I as well am an outside observer. This forum has been a source of information and at times very spirited debate. Contributors like Cosmo, Iflyjetz, and many others seem to watch the developments in the industry closely and add constructive points and counterpoints to the debate. I admire their frankness concerning the gravity of the state of United and they have done well in examining the latest news from a pragmatic standpoint.
In a thread entitled “An open apology to the readers of this forumâ€￾ I admitted to having unassumingly been a guilty party in ‘luring’ Mr. Munn to this board. Certainly it is an open forum, but Mr. Munn contends that he posted here only after I provoked him. I think that many of us that stepped into reading these threads in midstream if you will, were curious as to the back and forth of the barbs and who stood behind the bow. Of course after raising pertinent questions I and the aforementioned were quickly branded as being in denial, that we are sophists, and that we used sarcasm laden writing. Quite frankly giving me credit for far more than I am due.
Since that time, the forum has again suffered in the cogency of argument and discussion. For me it was a matter of style, for others a matter of using current information and facts. Now however, I can take your point as we have an example within this very thread. The level of discourse so displayed by firstadmendment does not bespeak high skills in debate and certainly reflects a distinct lack of command of our common language.
I as well United Chicago will revert back to an occasional glance and post. As a third party it is not difficult to see the glee or schadenfreude in the posts coming from the Airways side of the house. Many will contend that this is not so, but you know as do I, that the disinterested (not uninterested – a different word) can often observe patterns of behavior that are not obvious to the partisan Airways supporter. Although the good members of the United staff neither solicit not need pity from me, I must say that I sympathize with their having to take the brunt of this onslaught from someone such as Mr. Munn who delights in their delicate and difficult situation. I also never understood why it is so important if he posted something first or not. Is it a race to deliver bad news? This I find rather uncomfortable.
I know that Cosmo, Iflyjetz, and 767jetz will carry on the good fight. If I were judging the debate so far, they would carry the high marks.
Cheers

UnitedChicago (if you are still here),

Who pays for the tickets you buy on United?

Just curious if you are loyal to United with you money or someone else's. For most people, if its there money they are loyal to the lowest cost carrier and not the carrier.

Howdy all. Thanks for the posts. I'm not trying to be dramatic and I know I did a similar farewell right before the Iraq war.

I just need a break. Doesn't matter what topic or business you're in - message boards get a bit much sometimes. I just found myself angered by Chip's constant posts so - I need a break.

I'll be back closer to the emergence from ch11 to chear you all on. Thanks for the kind words Ukridge and 767jetz.

To answer Airplane's question...I purchase all of my tickets on United. Personal and business. When it's business, I typically expense all or a portion back to the client if it's billable travel. Honestly, I never fly a discount carrier. The closest thing away from United used to be Delta because I had clients in Atlanta - but they were a MP partner.

When clients don't want to pay United's fares, I estimate a low cost fare and then charge them that. I pick up the rest.

I'm loyal because my dad used to work for United, I love the service, I love the people, I feel safe always, and I'm addicted to miles!

Talk to you all soon!

I believe it was since the board went thru another upgrade attempt. The same thing has happened in the past and has required action to be taken to take certain words off the no no list that is built in. The moderators are aware and have forwarded the info the the administrator to look into.
