Congatulations to UAL for being able to recall ALL their furloughed flight attendants effective 31August! I really mean it.

Jim, I'm a furloughed UAL pilot, but I am also glad that UAL's been able to recall all involuntary FA furloughs (there are still some vol furloughs; I don't know the exact number). I hope that all of you at AMR are also recalled soon.

iflyjetz,

When were you furloughed, and when do you expect to be recalled?

I was part of the 200+ to hit the bricks in Mar 2002.

As for being recalled, I don't see that happening any time soon. I currently have over 800 pilots senior to me out on furlough with the number growing by ~80 monthly. Furloughs should be complete by next spring.
Because of the large number of pilots above me who will be on furlough, it's a very murky picture. Many factors affect my recall; the economy, the new contract (new work rules are brutal), rebound in traffic, etc.
My uneducated guess puts me ~1600 from recall when furloughs end. My equally uneducated guess has me recalled in 2007 or 2008. I don't expect to see new hire pilots at UAL until 2010.

Dude, if you need help, I can get you a job flying a truck delivering auto parts. I agree the industry will not come back for about 6 years---That happened after the first Gulf War also. There are not many places for a white male to get a job these days---and the "Chicks" at at HR do not have a clue what you are able to do.

Good luck to you all!

P.S. Bush Cheney 2004! The sooner we kill the people that want to harm us, the sooner we can get back to flying and maintaining commercial aircraft---the job we want to do.
