Does anyone know if we are required to pay our afa union dues, if you are out on a medicalleave and not receiving a paycheck?

non-paid med leave out of PHL and yes I pay monthly dues.

Only for 3 months, and the union will bill you unless you ask for deferment by calling the International Membership Department.

I've been out since March. Guess they owe me a refund. You guys always come through for me. Thanks PB

If you are on an unpaid medical, you need to be refunded any dues beyond 90 days. LTD receipiants only pay 90 days as well even though the f/a is receiving disability benefits. You stated above that you were on an unpaid medical leave. I assume you have been billed monthly by the union and you have been paying monthly...

However, if you are receiving sick bank time, you are considered active status with the company for vacation and sick accrual and therefore your dues will be assessed every month until sick bank is exhausted. That goes for Salary continuance associated with OIJ as well. Why the dues are assessed while collecting sick banked time and/or Salary continuance is because these are contractual benefits negotiated by the union.
