Afa Walk's Out On Us Airways Management

Simply amazing. How in the world can top management take all those annual raises and not want to give the FA workforce one cent? Thank you union for walking out. CHAOS...CHAOS

I believe I wrote out on this forum as way back as September telling everyone that management wanted the U-West f/as to be diverted soley on the seniority issue. Divide and Conquer still reins in the halls of Corporate headquarters...doesn't matter who the CEO is.

Everyone's full attention should be on the contract provisions and integrtion. This BOD along with the CEO chose to introduce to the Board pay hikes for his execs, and of course, his new issue of stock that is sitting at $33 a share.

Please, no one "rain on the Execs parade". Its showering CASH!!!!

The only friggin union at US Airways or AWA that has "balls"!!

Management covers themselves with bonuses and money and then tells
everyone else they are not worth a raise.. Bite me!!

I applaud the AFA for taking a stand against people like Uncle Al,
Doug the dope and the rest of LCC's top notch management team.

Please do not take this the wrong way but walking out does nothing these days. Just ask the Northwest mechanics who are "on their way to victory". With the excess of furloughed flight attendants out there there are plenty of people in the sahdows who are willing to do the job. In fact if unions really want to shock their employers just threaten to stay and then see the look on their faces.

I'm dissapointed with the new US Airways. The company expected our AWA AFA reps to allow furloughed US Airways flight attendants to join the company in the coming months at higher pay rates than those on reserve at America West. They would be junior to all AWA flight attendants –for a while – but the company wanted to pay them 1-for-2 during training and then pay them at 3 to 5 year AWA rates without pay raises for our junior flight attendants and no fence protections for everyone. They also don't want to match our rates with US Airways flight attendants for those here with 1-10 years of service. Totally unfair for us here at US West.

According to Gary, picketing and other actions will be scheduled.

I heard the iam brought out the snake shirts with hulk to show the company how angry they were.

I'm confused by the unions opposition to the hiring of furloughed US FA's. Would it have been essentially a "recall" of the furloughed US East FA's? If so, they would train on work for US West until combined. If recalled like this, shouldn't they receive their pay based on their years of service with US East and their contract? They should go to the bottom of the US West list until combined. They are receiving 1 for 2 duty rig for a non-fly assisgnment (working ground), thats one of the formulas for credit pay. Granted, it doesn't seem fair to the US West FA's, but isn't this fair to the US East furloughees? It is unfortunate that the company doesn't want to bring the pay rates for current AWA in line with current US East, that is where the real anger sets in. Parker is not at the head of these negotiations...who is sitting at the table for the company? Who is flatly rejecting these pay proposals?

The IAM has filed a change of control grievance.

The company negotiators are rejecting the pay proposals and fences. According to Gary, If the company gave our flight attendants pay raises and Fence protections, then AFA would have considered giving new-hire slots to furloughed US Airways flight attendants. The company wanted AWA AFA to suspend our contract negotiations and just negotiate a new single contract
for AWA and US Airways flight attendants. According to AWA AFA, they would only agree to this if there was pay parity between the AWA and US Airways pay
charts, but the company does not want to match the payscale of AWA F/As and US F/As. So US West F/As would be doing the same job as the US East F/As and furloughed US F/As for less pay! While US East continues to get pay raises, US West won't. Good grief!
The company just wants us to negotiate a single contract that would cover all US Airways flight attendants once we merge the seniority list and
operations and the company has one FAA operating certificate, but without
any promise of any raises.

AWA and US Airways Union reps walked out together, so we are united. We're going to be seeing some picketing and other action soon according to the Union.

Precisely.

The additional Fence that AFA negotiators hammered out would have provided an additional eighteen-(18) months of Fence protection by limiting any movement into the PHX base only in cases of block hour (more lines) growth. If vacancies were created because of attrition - or people leaving the company - then new hires or furloughees would be brought in instead of more senior transfers. The additional Fence Agreement also allowed for AWA flight attendants to transfer to US bases when growth occurs there as well

The above statement is so ONE sided and disturbing. Why should PHX be blocked off from US East flight attendants, but US West flight attendants can come to ours????? This is the kind of sh*t we don't need. All is fenced or NOTHING is fenced.

Oh puhleeze! None of our F/As wants to go any of your bases to be on reserve! We have seen your seniority list. We're not even getting any pay increases! We couldn't care less if you fence your base forever.

Well apparently somebody does, otherwise your end of the AFA would not be negotiating it. Your union is being so selfish...me me me me me. What is so special about PHX? It is not the best place on earth. If you were talk Honolulu, maybe you would have an arguement. Bottom line, if you people what to cry about a fence..........IT IS FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AGREED!!!! Then you wouldn't have a problem with Phoenix and Vegas having a 20 year fence then?
