Airtran Serves Record 898,709 Passengers in July

AirTran Airways reported record passenger traffic and capacity for the month of July 2002.
Based on revenue passenger miles (RPMs), traffic grew by 21.1 percent, to a record 525.1 million RPMs, on an increase of 21.5 percent in capacity, based on available seat miles (ASMs). July''s load factor was 70.6 percent compared to 70.8 percent in July 2001.
Achieving double-digit growth in July 2002, AirTran Airways served a record 898,709 passengers, a 12.3 percent increase over July 2001. Year-to-date, more than 5.6 million customers were served, an increase of 7.4 percent over the same period in 2001.
The airline begins new service to its 39th destination, Kansas City, from its Atlanta hub with three flights a day beginning October 8, 2002.
 
Not to start any rumors, but MCI would be a great hub for westward expansion. That would put the 717 in range of Denver, Las Vegas and other fun destinations.
 
Vanguard flights from MCI to LAS and LAX were usually PACKED. I think the SFO flights did pretty well and the SEA was starting to fill up. Of course you have to compete with the orange monster in terminal B. You ought to get some of your management types to swing a deal with the Mayor of KC.
