It appears that ALPA national is beginning to resort to desperate tactics in order to nip this decert effort in the bud. Many pilots who have stopped their dues check off did not receive an August bill, and are now in bad standing.

The ALPA offices have been using numerous excuses such as oversight, billing error, wrong address, staffing, etc.

Beware, beware. You cannot vote for a new collective bargaining agreement unless you are in good standing boys and girls. ALPA national may attempt to force a new contract, thereby memorializing the Nicolau award, down our throats.

Although this kind of tactic only serves to further alienate the line pilot from ALPA national, they appear to have no qualms in engaging in whatever saves their hides.

As far as the picketing in PHX. The definition of stupid is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different outcome. Our picketing events, with the exception of the Herndon party in May, have produced little or no results.

Further, ALPA national and the West MEC declined to attend.

Sorry Richard

Posted and then realized my error. Don't know how to move post to the East ALPA thread.

Richard or one of the other mods will probably move it for you, but until then......

I don't think that this is correct. Being in good standing is necessary to vote on ALPA issues - LEC elections, assessments, contracts, etc - but is not required by the NMB as a condition of voting in a representational election. All that the NMB basically requires is participation in the "craft or class" and an employer/employee connection - active, furloughed with return rights, etc.

Thanks for the correction Mr. Get Your Facts Straight. I have edited my post.

Actually that is very good to know. Now there is no reason for anyone to send a penny to ALPA. I have not paid ALPA a penny since June and still have not recieved my termination notice...

Actually, his post is correct. If you are in bad standing, you cannot vote on a collective bargaining AGREEMENT.

You can, however, vote on a collective bargaining AGENT.

Further clarification:

It appears that Piedmont's original post says AGREEMENT, but Boeing's quote of Piedmont's post says AGENT.

I think Piedmont1984 corrected it after my post - "Thanks for the correction Mr. Get Your Facts Straight. I have edited my post."

I hope I don't forget one.

1. Anyone in the craft or class can send in a card, then vote for a new agent/representative in an NMB election. Doesn't matter if you're in good standing or bad standing. Member or non-member.

2. Good standing with ALPA and member. Eligible to vote for a new CBA and all other ALPA matters. (Of course, if you're given the right to vote)

3. Bad standing with ALPA and member. Denied voting on ALPA matters including the CBA.

4. Good standing (Maintenance dues) and non-member. Allowed to vote on CBA issues only.

5. Bad standing (Maintenance dues) and non-member. Denied voting.

Lots of pilots now complaining of not receiving a bill for August. Some have been placed in bad standing immediately. Whatever happened to the 30 day window? This could not be a coincidence. So ALPA violates its own rules.

It looks like ALPA is making the proverbial end run. Since a lot of USAPA supporters have now gone into bad standing. If there is a CBA cramdown, we may have Nicolau but it guarantees a new union. I do hope ALPA tries this. Other carriers will look at what happened and start there own decert drives.

That had been happening before I retired last November.......I assumed because of the power struggle within the East MEC, but that was just speculation.

I thought so too. The "Get them off the rolls, so I have more roll call voting power". Now I'm not so sure. I think it's now both. ALPA National setting us up and the MEC divisions. The next move should be to negate the voting power of the rank and file. Led by the CLT LEC. Remember the resolution about giving us the right to vote? I wonder if it will be rescinded soon? Just a thought.

Lance No Pants? ......Tell me you're kidding

Look at who Lance is supporting. National or his pilots? That would be a lot of power centered in one LEC. After the damage is done, too late for recall now, watch for our boy to receive a National job for preserving the union.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Nice quote, huh?

dang, and I thought IAM was the Zen master of dividing the membership!

Maybe ALPA got the Cliff Notes!
