The vote fell 238 votes short of union representation. The union plans to appeal due to company intimidation of employees and providing the union with incorrect addresses of employees.

Well, at least those are original complaints.

I'm confused... at the bottom of page 3c in this mornings Rocky Mtn News is a blurb that claims that Customer Service Workers at AWA voted to join the Teamsters -- 4,100 out of 4,200 voted yes???

It would be nice to see customer service reps get a token raise especially new hires. AWA pays far less than their low fare competitors per hour for the most part...Kind of a goodwill gesture is what I'm saying...(dont hold your breath waiting to hear about it though)...

Keep in mind AWA is now under the terms of the ATSB Loan and must maintain costs at a certain level to be able to pay it back. While it would be nice to show some appreciation for telling the unions thanks but no thanks, it probably can't happen without violating the ATSB Loan.

Another thing, if the union relies on the company for addresses, maybe it's not working hard enough.

It is a provision of Federal Law that the Company provide the names and addresses of those employees within the craft & class for which there exists a representational dispute and when such employees are covered by the Railway Labor Act. Of course, you can go to the National Mediation Board website to see it for yourself: http://www.nmb.gov

The material is listed beneath the tab for Representation and is found by clicking on the Representation Manual. The manual section is 12.1 for this particular material.
