What you need to understand is that your opinion really means nothing. My understanding is that the current company proposal will be coming off the table. The next proposal may be worse. Just like my opinions and fears how this would turn out at SWA was wrong. They will go back and forth probably for about 1 to 2 years, then come to a t/a depending on how much they want to pay for the changes they need, you guys will either pass it the first time out, or you will say No, and get another offer that will pass the next time. What you need to understand is that your opinion really means nothing.
You know better then that Tim. It won't change since the membership hasn't seen it. The asso. boys will claim it changed but what is really happening is all the true info will come out of what they agreed to with the co. and they will say the co. changed some stuff, just so they don't get look at for the blame. It's all chess moves to steer the blame away from the asso., watch and learn. My understanding is that the current company proposal will be coming off the table. The next proposal may be worse. They could probably get the United contract, or ours, but Parker would want attrition or outsourcing to pay for it. If it doesn't bring new blood into the Association, you can forget seeing something, for about 2 years. That's until there is a real threat from a card drive, where they actually have the votes, to threaten the Association exodus.AA is playing it exactly how SWA did. First the go around, now let the members sit on it for some time, asso. will soon start to throw ideas out there, they force a vote (like they did with us) then they will go back and get the second offer like we did. Same play book, so your right they are about 1-2 years away from a T/A to vote on.
Too big of an ask for scope and other benefits currently to get passed.
Having been a huge advocate for showing the membership the company proposal, I can honestly say that anyone who was overly excited on ONLY the high lights, the company may of overplayed their hand. Many coworkers of mine have had a huge change of mind once reading the proposal. But I must add that SCOPE was the least factor for doing so. The main factors were the 401k language, no cap on medical and, for some, the use of sick time hours to buy retiree medical. They could probably get the United contract, or ours, but Parker would want attrition or outsourcing to pay for it. I would take the United contract in a heartbeat.
The union should call the company's bluff and tell DP we would settle on the UA deal RIGHT NOW!
I have my feelings on the 401k wording. So, yes, that needs to be fixed.Nice to read this. The 401K language is an easy fix if they incorporate the TWU language. The Company I “assume” just wants the ability to modify the investments they offer or the services they use at their discretion? But they do need to flesh that out to be less ambiguous.
The Medical Cap is one thing but not being able to audit their books is another. If we gave them that they could charge us anything they want. I’m glad some people are waking up to recognize the seriousness of this issue.
No Retiree Medical at all is NOT Industry standard.

The retiree medical offer is a joke.
This is exactly why I and others wanted to see the company proposal. So whatever the company's euphoric feelings were on the highlights have probably gone up in smoke. But considering arrogance, I must say I doubt a sweeter offer will be proposed.
Now, if the association were to bring this back for a vote, I can say undoubtedly it would be rejected handily.
Like I have said.....TRUST THE MEMBERSHIP!
Going to be a long ride, folks!
You flip floppers are incredible. You and Mr Baskett originally said that you guys are readying up the full text of the union proposal. Now, back peddling. So, as it turns out, just another video bad mouthing Parker? Is it going to be like the last video where it lied when Billy Wilson said when and where directed included bag room and bag running? Will Mr Baskett lie again and say that all express bag running and express work in CLT is under our scope?Subject: Briefing
Briefing for 5-12-19
UPDATE: Hi everyone. Even though we don't have negotiations scheduled anytime soon, there will be plenty of things happening this week to stay tuned for.
First the Association will be putting out a video in response to the companies proposal they put out on jetnet. I don't know at this time if our written proposals will be put out for all to see, or if the video will compare the two proposals ( company & union ) and that's it. Either way, I ask all of you to pay attention to when the video is released and take the time to listen to what the association has to say.
You have heard me say many times that it is important to stay educated and informed during these times. Do Not be going on hearsay. But find out the facts from the people that know what's going on.
Many of you have had the time now to look over the companies proposal. Something that I hope all of you noticed is that the scope proposal the company put out was dated July 2018. As I have said in previous email briefs, once you get to a certain point in negotiations, many of the discussions are not put in writing, they are just discussed across the table until the two sides get close, and then you would see another proposal put in writing. The fact of this date on the companies last written proposal should tell everyone, just how far apart we are on the just the scope issue alone.
Again, I ask all of you to stay tuned for the Associations response video coming out this week. I will be able to go into more detail next briefing after the video.
PENSION: Another thing going on this week that is of big interest to our members is the meeting with the pension board. All of us full time union reps will be meeting in Chicago this coming Thursday with the Pension board members. They will be there to discuss the latest developments on our pension, and also to take and hopefully answer all of our questions. I can assure you all that this meeting will be a pretty intense meeting as I know they will have much explaining to do to all of us full time reps. Again, I will have much more on this issue on my next briefing. Just wanted to get on here tonight and let everyone know what's coming up this week.
EVERYONE HAVE A GOOD AND SAFE WEEK
