American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

They could probably get the United contract, or ours, but Parker would want attrition or outsourcing to pay for it. If it doesn't bring new blood into the Association, you can forget seeing something, for about 2 years. That's until there is a real threat from a card drive, where they actually have the votes, to threaten the Association exodus.
that is EXACTLY what i have bee saying for the last two years.
 
I think even if a PEB recommended we vote on the Company’s offer they also would realize and agree that the language needs to be tightened up and clarified in many areas.

Clear language would give anything they pass along to us at least a better chance to pass than what we’re reading right now.

I’d also like to see some letters of intent be inserted into whatever it is we’ll be looking at prior to any vote.

I can’t stand ambiguity in my Employment Contract and I’ve been here too long now to not both recognize the ambiguity or tolerate it.
Maybe a resounding NO vote would send a non-ambiguous message?

I remember when Delta closed their hub in DFW, basically giving American Airlines an monopoly to print money in the Dallas / Ft Worth market and international out of there. The money is there, but what is the cost of scope. If they pay you more that us, our new deal, and don't gut your scope, plus you get your holidays and a decent 401k match, winner! 🙂
 
My understanding is that the current company proposal will be coming off the table. The next proposal may be worse. I tried telling you guys but all of the working class hero podcast, etc had you guys drinking Buzz Lightyear Koolaid. Thank your union persons when this happens. Bad!

Current proposal from company is a sham of propaganda. I believe if voted on it would fail miserably bec of scope. Medical n host of other issues. Cant wait til i see a worse proposal from mgmt than last one
 
I see the association is now putting out more detailed information on negotiations. One wonders why?
 
Bottom line is we all know there will never be two competing proposals to vote on so the Ass should not even say that.
Also as Tim says there is a real chance what is being offered now could become worse the longer this lingers.
We all should know every time we go through negotiations the company has a total dollar number in mind.
So how does the Ass get to that number and be satisfied?
I wish I knew because they seem quite dysfunctional .
I say get the companies proposal in total and put it out to us all for votes. If it’s so bad then we as members will vote it down, if the majority vote for it than it’s done but we deserve a voice that we don’t seem have now. Otherwise we will continue down this he said she said and we will continue to loose out on better pay and benefits.
The long summer doesn’t sound good to me that the union seems to want to promote. I want a vote

Well, to be fair all that is what the company put out with comparisons to other industry contracts. It makes no mention of the associations positions. So, if you ask me they havent put out anything, just rah rah shis chum ba stuff.
Maybe all along it was the ASS who didn't have a proposal? Just telling the company what they want verbally? Like they accuse the company of doing?
The company releasing their proposals and supposals was a godsend. And pretty damn fast at that. So why is the association taking so taking so long?
 
I think the association is only staying in position to collect union dues. I personally think the company proposal is not too bad. One thing the union members have to understand, the company has the right to manage itself. If the company does not make money then we will lose Jobs. I still want the union to do a road show to explain the company proposal.
 

Yes, exactly this. The association is now breaking down in more detail the articles that they are not in agreement with. That's called negotiations. Too bad it all has come out on the open in public forums instead of the association just giving us this information when members asked for it months ago to see what articles have been agreed to by both sides. I fully understand that all articles can be revised while negotiations are continuing. Lately it seems negotiations have stopped until both sides are willing to give a bit here and there. I'm not sure where the company is willing to give. On the association side they need to improve our scope and benefits by letting the IAMPF and the IAM medical go. No other work group at AA has the IAM medical plan and the IAMPF. If this goes to arbitration or some other final ruling the IAMPF and the IAM medical plan will be gone. If we go to the next level in government controlled negotiations we might lose some of the already favorable articles and end up worse off. Every day that ticks by is more loses of potential compensation and favorable work rules already agreed upon. The company put out their proposal and the current agreement from both parties. DO NOT CONFUSE THE TWO. My post is referring to the agreements in place while we are in mediated negotiations.
