American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

I have been in unions my whole career. 40 years in aviation I have been the UAW, Teamsters and IAM. Now the Association that I did not vote for. I never felt that I was ever represented probably. The Unions and the companies have lied too me. It always worked out for the companies and the unions. I for one would like to vote on the current proposal.

He’s not my enemy. Just a blowhard. Oh at least I have a chance to vote for a POTUS. Did you have a chance to vote on your hero Samuelsen’s position?

Indirectly yes I did. I voted for representatives who ultimately by majority voted for him.

Actually my Local even had an Election of the delegates to send to the last Convention.

Under the USA Electoral College structure if I’m a Democrat in Texas does my vote count or am I wasting my time even bothering?

And did you elect the MTA delegates who also elected Samuelsen? I didn’t!

Oh, BTW. I could not care any less than I do about who gets appointed international positions. I dislike the tough talking blowhards who want mechanics to fight the company.
Maybe he and Schaible should leave their offices, put their uniforms back on, hit the floor and show the rest of us how to fight!

If you don’t want to fight or do what you know you need to do to push for an acceptable deal that’s your choice. I just don’t respect people who do nothing at all period and think the guys who hold office are suppose to be miracle workers and do everything for them.

BTW Metal I don’t think the tough talk is necessarily geared towards you and I anyway. I think it’s geared more for the next generation?

I get where you’re going but you guys never got it done. No excuses. The AA Mechanics never got it done. You never did what the Pilots and Attendants did. Now there’s just way too many numbers for you to overcome and the next group starting to come in is going to care even less than you guys who are about to go out.

You know I’m right. Harping on it is not going to change that fact either.

Did you ever hear what goes on at those TWU conventions. The way it is conducted with all the noise , commotion and YEA and NAY votes, they could elect a dead guy for president!

All I can do is vote NO if given the chance!

From what I’ve seen I’m a no too. But are you prepared for what “could” come next if we make that choice?

Personally I just don’t think we’re quite there yet to take it and make that vote. I want to hear what the NMB’s next move is going to be?

Maybe the Company really is looking for a PEB? Maybe so is the Association?

It’s a Convention held in Vegas. Who’s going to be naive to not know what goes on.

And who doesn’t love a great buffet.

The company needs to see the NO just like the members needed to see their proposals. Maybe by doing so, the NMB’s next move might be favorable to us. And yes I agree, the company wants a PEB because they know the union will reject arbitration.

After the Association guys saw the response from the Membership that they have from the Company’s full release maybe we’re now headed in that direction? They should have more confidence that the Membership isn’t going to pass something with so many holes in the language?

The company wants a PEB which would then offer up a recommendation that will be rejected by the Association, then end up in governmental oversight with an imposed contract. Along the way, I have never seen a union not allow its members to vote PRIOR to a PEB. However, with the bi polar Gary Peterson in charge, who knows.
The most likely path is ice. The company has no intention of negotiating with the Association as everything has been exhausted with Peterson and Pantoja blowing up talks with madness. If the NMB comes back and says 'ice', then it may be possible for the Association to allow a vote and then sign on to Arbitration if there is a rejection. Yes, I know the TWU and IAM have said they would never agree to arbitration but there is no way out of their madness. This is what happened 7 months ago. Sito claimed he would never agree to arbitration but the NMB put the IAM on ice forever OR arbitration. So Sito submitted to arbitration and wrote a dear john letter to all of the members he screwed. This happened under the RLA with 10,000 members a short time ago.

Best path is PEB, but if it's ice, then at least the mechanics need to mobilize and get the AMP. Because negotiations with the company are dead and will remain dead between the Association. Not sure how long members will want to keep a illegitimate dead union that isn't even negotiating but on an incubator?

Great! Let's vote! Reject or accept, The members wanna know.

How do think the bus and rail
union elected Little?

I didn’t pay any attention to it all back then cause we all had too much crap going on already in our lives.

I’ll assume that Little was just next in line to succeed O’Brian?

Joe Gordon was supposed to succeed Little but instead Lombardo and Samuelsen threw a Monkey wrench in that plan. Garcia was well known throughout the Union from being the COPE director so strategically he was a great fit too.

BTW the opposition to Lombardo tried to sell that we would never have another rail guy in there ever again and now we got Garcia and Mike Mays as part of the top 5.

After the addition of the Jet Blue Attendants the Air Division may be the biggest group the TWU Represents now?
