NO second thoughts,as far as me retiring I plan to work another 8 or 9 years God willing. But this reminds me of the beginning of deregulation of the airlines you should have heard the fear the workers expressed yes there was great pain but it took 40 years for it to settle and be complete same here, this will take decades, so I'm really not worried about it. This country is going to be 3rd world by then anyway its going to chit . If anyone is looking at the time of this post and why I'm up so late its because I ate a pound of cherries and I cant stop chitting and its not diarrhea either...amazing

Just go have your party. You won. You have helped to do serious damage to your union brothers that will take years, if not decades, to repair. Go have your party. Let me know when you finally do retire so I can have one. I don't like being affiliated with anti-union workers and that goes more for tn who is trying to get elected which makes him more dangerous.

ok, so i'm trying to figure this out:

- obviously, you're the only poster allowed to connect the political dots to labor dots to our contract dot.

- there are many other posters who understand where the republicans stand, they also don't understand why the democratic party is now the party of social issues of the perceived wronged and not so much the party of labor?

the media told me yesterday that the 'new face' of the democratic party is a 28 y/o woman who won a democratic primary in new york. what's her agenda?

- abolish immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) agency.

- erase student loan debt.

wow, i really feel like an a$$hole after i paid back my student loan in the 80's - with 1980's interest rates.

there are co-workers i know that feel like a$$holes after standing in line, following the rules and coughing up cash to become american citizens.

you blame gerrymandering for the GOP picking up house seats, senate seats in state and national elections? ok. keep blaming gerrymandering.

Don't make it harder on yourself than it has to be. Go ahead and start voting republican and stop torturing yourself. You appear to be looking for a reason to do so. There are probably better things you can do with your time that might not negatively impact the union careers of those with less time than you.

Democrats abandoned labor a long time ago. When a known Marxist wins a primary in New York, and is proud to be a Marxist, the Democrats are in trouble. If they nominate Crazy Bernie that wants to give all this Free stuff , Trump will win in 2020. The Unions will have to merge to survive, just like the Retailers did, and the Airlines. Unions will become a business like they already are, and it is will always be the best offer, and people will take it, and move on, because your ability to strike will be gone.

Your statement is factually incorrect. As Piedmont and NYer have both pointed out several times, there is a "National" right to work act that republicans are trying to push through Congress right now. It has the support of almost all republicans and almost all Democrats oppose it.

Are you saying the republicans oppose the "National" right to work laws and the Democrats are supporting a nationwide right to work law?

The Democrats are fighting for Unions by fighting against a nationwide right to work law. Do you have evidence to show that is not the case?

Yes republicans do not like unions and organized labor and those union workers who vote republican are voting against their jobs and their fellow union workers.

And Democrats have most certainly not abandoned union workers and unions.
If you took a survey of association membership it woul probably be 40%dem and 40% rep and 20% wouldnt know what you are talking about. As As Republican I would hate for my dues to go to a Democrat something the unions are going to have to look at.How not to piss off Half their membership and lose their revenue I mean dues

I agree,I also will keep paying my dues and won't like it when my coworkers dont
The unions brought this on themselves. I doubt very much millions of union members agree with their respective union's political agenda.

This is what happens to

SCOTUS ruled that collective bargaining was against a Members right of free speech.

This ruling is simply to cripple unions who collectively gain political support because of their numbers.
