Build A Better Union Update

As we move things forward in a more radically democratic union, over 25 properties have contacted us about replacing the Ill Ask Management regime. Some of the Hoghlights:
1. 75% of all dues stays at the Local level
2. Dues $40...
3A. Authority for negotiations and grievance handling given to Local level.
3B. Outside Attorneys will be contracted to arbitrate so that the members won't end up with an uneducated shop steward (Who kissed alot of ass) arbitrating against Ivy League pros.
4. Intl Salaries Minimum $50,000 or Current base pay + 15%. Max Salary of $95,000.
5.No cash spending on politics, charities, alchohol, 5 star hotels.
6. No purchases of Real Estate, investments.
7. Quarterly virtual meetings. Other meetings, as determined.
8. Only 1 yearly conference.
9. Voting: 30 days with opportunity to mail in ballot or vote online.
10. Union Discipline: Run by outside independent arbitration association. No discipline agains members who pay their dues, except for grossly negligent actions against members.
11. Officer Candidacy requirements: Dues paying member for 2 years.
12. No children or relatives hired.
13. No extras like additional pensions for officers. No retirement gifts. No Automobiles for reps. Nothing.
14. All contract changes must be voted upon, even if small in nature.
15. The entire negotiation team will be made up of only members who will be working under the particular contract. No members from other companies will be involved in negotiations that are not their own.

Basically, all money will be on representation. No money will be spent on politics. And all powers will be given to the Local level
Tim dont bother these guys rather tread water for the next 6 years rather than swim to shore.

who the iam screwed when the members and locals were against Boeing freezing the pension and sito got a second vote as it was rejected by the members. So screw your iam crap
If I am not mistaken, didn't the IAM do this some time ago with the US guys as well? It was either a second vote because the members voted it down, or, it was one of the international leaders over ruled the no vote and certified it to go through. Been awhile but can't remember which one it was.

The Association keeps getting worse. With no disclosure of the offer, and with no vote, I can no longer support this miserable anti-union organization. Giving up cross utilization and our total leverage so the TWU can get a dues grab was bad enough but I figured, at least they would honor their word and allow a vote prior to section 6 on the company's last best offer. Another lie. Now, we simply wait until Sito retires otherwise he won't allow the IAM Pension to be taken out. Meanwhile, the company is so greedy that it actually is more than comfortable keeping the TWU bankruptcy contracts forever. So, we are losing $275 a week and it's now up to $550. Gotta get the Association out then bring a vote for the contract.

You figured, "at least they would honor their word and allow a vote prior to sec 6" Tim, when have this asso "EVER" allowed the membership a vote on anything??
No vote on this asso., No vote on giving up leverage and allowed cross untilization, No vote for the classification seniority, No vote about the pensions etc... The list goes on and on, No vote mediation, sec 6, and/or arbitration. You guys will never get a vote as long as this pathetic asso. is in charge, period.

No, I'm saying we have leverage for the company to move from their position.

By leverage, sure hope you guys don't mean agreeing to give something else up as your leverage, as has been done in the past.

That's a new twist on leverage. Although I'm not saying I didn't miss it, I check out most town halls I don't recall Isom, Parker or anyone else say it's costing AA two million a day as long as there is no JCBA. That would be 60 million a month times however many months we have been negotiating. Has anyone in the Association confirmed that claim, and if not why would it be stated as our leverage? Maybe W can research that claim, pinpoint and verify it's accuracy, and then maybe being used as our leverage can have some legitimacy.

Hey look. It’s that Southwest Airlines Guy dropping by to say hello.

Hello Southwest Airlines Guy. Hey how’s things going over at your Airline? We never read much about that here?

That 770 to 20 keeps popping up in numerous post, we have all seen it and are well aware of it.
Just another retread subject posted by someone who constantly complains about retreads.

I know you’re seriously not asking me to find information for you right?

Seriously?

Nope, absolutely not. It was sarcasm, something you graduated with honors in. Quite frankly, I'm disappointed you didn't figure that out.

Do not EVER assume I want anything from you!

Hope the Association can get a contract done before you retire. Damn are you losing a lot of money.

Your immaturity is mind boggling, Davey. But carry on, I'll step back into the shadows.

Whats the leverage???You might get a couple of protesters at the stockholders meeting and town halls, you might get a Motley Fool article that points out that we are the only airline without a combined work force. So maybe a little embarrassment but they are saving money
