American Management Continues Disrespect of 30,000 TWU Association Members

Since American management walked out of talks in late March, the TWU--IAM Association mechanic and related, stores and fleet service negotiating committees have been fully prepared to resume joint contract bargaining and bring these negotiations to a successful conclusion. Instead of making a good faith effort to to reach a fair agreement with 30,000 American Airlines ground workers and get back to work, American management has opted to conduct company controlled road shows in an attempt to bypass your negotiating committees. This diversión only serves to prolong the process and prevent Association members from reaping the benefits of a fair joint contract.

“Enough is enough. Association members have waited long enough for a fair joint contract,” said Alex Garcia and Sito Pantoja, Association Chair and Vice Chair, respectively. “The Association has been ready to resume talks since American management walked out of Negotiations, but the Company seems more interested in holding their corporate sideshows than they are in reaching a fair agreement. Each day that American management refuses to negotiate is a slap in the face of 30,000 workers.”

In late March, Johnson — talks broke down as American Airlines Executive Vice President Stephen who had never before been in negotiations — stormed out of the room because the Association rejected American’s proposals regarding medical and retirement benefits, wages, scope/job security and profit sharing, which were wholly inadequate.

“We are deeply concerned over American’s refusal to negotiate and their seeming attempt to bend Association members to their will,” continued Garcia and Pantoja. “Make no mistake, we will not bend to American’s will, we stand ready to negotiate and we are fully prepared to mobilize the Association’s significant resources and bring this process to a conclusion that provides 30,000 Association members a fair joint contact that they can be proud of.”

Thats MX right?
Yes this is the T/A they will present to us, no scope, loss most of all our back pay, an all in raise snap up of 16.3 %. Plus we made some language gains, but to some people that's not enough, in this volatile environment, we are entering.

13-15% of what, I looked in the contract and couldn't find anything about how much they were getting for diff. But you want 13-15% of a unknown amount.

Lol. What contract?

2nd shift is going from .45 to .52/hr.

3rd shift is going from .52 to .59/hr.

Lead override is going from $1.59/hr. to $1.75/hr.

Ya know, I’m happy for ya, but all things being equal, how many MX are there at SW v. LAA and LUS combined.

At SWA with everyone about 2600 maybe a little more. American Airlines combined I would say over 8000 or more.

You know better than me but if that was the plan they would have cut when we matched to $30
they want to finish the job and lock in a jcba. Delta has a heart for twu laa and doesnt want laa scraping the bottom. Delta can have a couple billion advantage raising the bid for mx and fleet then letting AA have the higher bid and bailing out.

I could be wrong, but I think it’s in the neighborhood of 16000, somebody correct me please.

7217 on the TWU AMT seniority list.

10767 on Javits AMT integrated list, but it must be higher than that by now.

The fact that fleet can not move forward because of MX pi$$es me off. The will have to come to see reality for what it is, outsourcing is here to stay and you can't have, for example, 10k mx to service 100 planes, what scene does that make.

I hope you don't think fleet service is immune to outsourcing! Neither is facilities/plant maintenance and automotive. For years the TWU basked in the fact that the word "outsourcing" only applied to aircraft maintenance. They gladly took pushbacks and deicing away from aircraft maintenance and turned it over to fleet. I don't recall ANY fleet service clerk saying they cared about our job losses! They hopped in the tugs and deicing buckets with the TWU's blessing.
Fleet service needs to see the reality that deicing should be outsourced. But the big difference is that there will be no job loss due the fact that is not a 365 day a year function. The only thing lossed is good overtime. In your words...."what SCENE does that make?
If you are happy to rid AA of thousands of mechanics, then we should be happy to outsource as much fleet service work as possible....deal?????
Since we can't have 10k mx service 100 planes??????/ It's more like a thousand planes!

Maybe we have too many fleet service employees...????.

I don't think they will contract out those cities (except maybe SJU), ultimately, but it can become a pressure point for a vote before Section 6.

What will Sito do for his LLCer “brothers and sisters” if STL gets contracted out?
