American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

I think the school and licensing cost a bit more then that in 1980 when I obtained my certs. Well, then at that time airlines were in a pretty severe downturn so the military was the only option for awhile which helped with getting heavy experience which airlines required at the time. Then of course theres working mid nights and holidays and weekends to build seniorty.

I know some folks sometimes simplify and minimize the process. I dont know why but, it's a bit hurtfull.... just saying?

My extremely professional and respected colleague. You haven’t been here long enough to witness what many of these individuals have to say about people working in Fleet Service. If you did, not saying it’s right (or nice) but you would understand my responses.

My sincere apologies and respect to “YOU” and your profession.

For the context of the conversation though I’m just amazed how AMT’s at both SWA and even more so now UPS turned down their TA’s?

I know AMFA sold against ratification and the members thought they deserved more $$$$ but I’m frankly surprised on the IBT fail?

I absolutely understood (and agreed) with the first massive no vote over at UAL.

Hey maybe AMP or AMFA need to get in there?

“UPS aircraft mechanics went for years without a raise, and we’ve worried long enough about the future of our medical care,” said aircraft mechanic Jack Chatburn who was on the bargaining committee. “We are eager to share the details of this top-notch agreement with our members and our families who will now have the top-notch pay and health benefits we’ve been fighting for. We believe the contract will be ratified swiftly.”

-10 to Chatburn for using the phrase “top-notch” twice in one paragraph.

Weez, if 700 is right, and Trump tanks the economy, how much of a pay cut do you think Uncle Jerry will ask for?
This stuff these idiots turned down will be gone, and you will go 2 years or more. Then they will dare you to walk, so they can really save money when they replace you.

That's because tbe TWU is more interested in keeping Fleet service dumping the chitters than keeping maintenance in the US....SIgn your cards before you have nothing to sign
That's a fact, and now they are all realizing what the Brazil hangars are really for, " HEAVY MAINTENANCE"

It's all in the heading. "Wide body heavy maintenance hangar" "HEAVY MAINTENANCE" NOT just a roof over the heads of regular line maintenance. C'mon man. Get a clue people...

Yeah, we get it. Dfwgen is referring to Robert Isoms rhetoric that the hangar at GRU is just " putting a roof" over work already being done there. We all know it's a lie.

sounds about in touch with the membership as the association, or american for that case

I see. I guess the question is will the company try and move any current work done by members down there that is covered by the contract? Or will they work harder at the table trying to get the language changed in the new contract for them to be able to do so. Gee, it would be so much easier for the asso. to agree to it all since the hangers are already a done deal.

About the same "in touch" as our company was with us in our last offer. And almost the same %'s of NO votes as well as participation %'s.

Yes it’s fleet service people like you that give fleet service a bad name. Let’s see on here just as a example with people like Tim and Kev New Yorker al antook etc before you ran newyorker away like you have other civilized posters. We have civil conversation no prima Donna talk at all .you come on here badmouthing mechanics on here so yea we’re going to have a proplom with that. Again why are you so concerned what us amts do. And why are you concerned. With ups and swa contracts. There members got to vote and they voted those down. If we had voted the contract down where we had to pay for insurance and retirement medical we might be in better shape today. Once you give things up it’s nearly impossible to get back. So this contract ups mechanics would have to pay 400 for medical well in the next contract talks ups is going to want them to pay more. And yes swa mechanics deserve more then they were offered after 6 years of no raises they do deserve more. Why don’t you worry about your own group . Most mechanics own here aren’t getting in fleets business about what you should vote for are not vote for. And I know you have gone to the pilots thread and bad mouth them also just like 700 did. I go there to read what there issues are but stay out of there business. But thanks to the association you love so much. I bet we wind up like the east and west pilots . Where the twu side will stay on the bk contract and the iam stays on there’s for years to come. How could it not when the 2 head honchos on the association both have to sign to get a ta to the members as long as the iam and twu are not getting what they want we will be in limbo for years. I bet you give mechanics hell there in mia . So why don’t you mind your own business and stay out of ours. And that a&p school I went to cost way more then what you said. And we all tested to get our license. So when’s the last time you took legal responsibility for 300 people riding on a 777 going across the pond . If you think it’s so cheap and easy why don’t you go get your license. And become a amt since your so obsessed with us it borders on scary like a stalker . You know weas how do you get a long with the people you work with because if anyone disagrees with you you get rude nasty condescending and just plain hateful . And to the civil fleet service folks on here I know in maintenance we have a few like the weas here that gives mechanics a bad name. All departments have them. But on here weas just keeps going about amts so we have to defend ourselves. And I’m sure my spelling and grammar is not right for you but I think you can understand what I’m saying. It seems when you have no answer to people comments you disagree with you do a lot of childish name calling . So I beat you to it.
