American pulls tickets from Orbitz

The quote above is more fitting if you look at it in its entirety:

There are many other airlines (including TWA) who chose 30 pieces of silver in order to improve that quarter/year's balance sheet, versus managing for the long run...

One thing that AMR has remained consistent in thru the years is managing for long term sustainability over short term gain.
Are you really saying that in the end, principles will win out over the dollar?

It's rather obvious to me now who isn't subject to drug testing. Care to share some?

Principals always win out, Frank. Often at the expense of principles. 😉

What I'm saying is that AMR is pretty consistent in looking at what's best for long term sustainability and its owners. Sometimes that means short term pain and suffering.

And since I know you can't resist the temptation to start talking about concessions, there are plenty of other threads where you can beat that topic to death. Don't screw this one up.

I didn't mention concessions - you started that - enjoy.

Just predicting what's been done countless times before, Frank...

This forum is like the party game "Six Degrees to Kevin Bacon", except here it is called "Six Degrees to AA Screws its Mechanics"

And with that long-term view, Direct-Connect distribution is where the industry is going long-term. AA is trying to reclaim the pricing power they had prior to widespread internet use and IMHO they will ultimately be successful because of the current industry dynamics.

Sabre and AA agree to make nice until June 1, 2011:
