Another US red flag?

The fact that US labor has essentially been in limbo for so long is very disconcerting. From DL to UAL twice, Parker seems to move on to bigger and better conquests instead of taking care of his own issues. Did anyone do any homework before jumping on the US bandwagon?

Did Hummel bother to mention why his workgroup wasn't integrated yet? To the best of my knowledge, it was due to some union issues combined with a few legal battles between his boys. Nothing Parker can do to settle their dispute.

A lot of casual observers spout the oft-repeated refrain that "Parker hasn't even combined his two airlines yet" but I doubt that many of them realize the nuances of the situation. Like wings said - not much a CEO can do about a union seniority issue that results when one group forms a new union in the hope that by doing so, they can ignore an arbitration decision with which they disagree (despite having agreed to arbitration).

Just an observation:

US Airways, the fifth-biggest U.S. airline, hasn’t made a formal bid for No. 3 American because that carrier holds the exclusive right to file a reorganization plan.

Pay has nothing to do with the seniority list integration. If everyone got a 20% pay raise, the seniority list would look exactly as it did before.

Wrong, seniority determines your pay level. And the east and west pilots are fighting about it, so it will effect their pay.

Seniority determines what A/C a pilot flies, and with each type and position pay levels are different.

For ground employees seniority determines pay, shift, vacation, etc...

... once again, nothing stops Parker from raising pay for EVERY employee in a group, irrespective of the seniority list of anyone's location on the pay scales. An across the board pay raise affects nothing that is unresolved.

Seniority affects pay. Pay does not affect seniority.

The truth is that Parker is happy to use the conflicts between labor groups to avoid increasing pay... but he hasn't raise pay for other groups where there are no integration issues to be resolved.

Really? A pilot union president that lost every court battle and now lost another arbitration that cost our pilots raises has credibility? shheeesssh. US Airways pilots dont have a contract because they are in court over a seniority issue. Period. And the National Mediation Board recessed talks between US Air and the pilots union earlier this year. What a bunch of baloney as Joe Biden would say...or malarkey. Bad union leadership does not mean they are credible to yak about any subject and be taken seriously. come on!

let's see. US flight attendants turn down two contracts that offer up to 25% increases on day one of the contract. the pilots union sued its own members. the company has made profits and is one of the most stable in the industry. aa-us together would be able to compete with delta and united and offer employees more and offer job security. how does this stack up over life as we all know it today? really. what about a dose of reality here. give me a break - a failed union makes a statement and that trumps everything else? go figure. No wonder we are in the shape we are....

The unions have not helped their cause at US but Parker is thrilled to use the labor discord to keep labor rates down.

US could not make pay rates at the levels that AA has now, let alone what DL pays.

That is precisely why Parker has no interest or intention of increasing pay unless he absolutely has to do it as part of a merger with AA...

I can say that there is a lot happening behind the scenes at the grass roots level as well. Many US Airways employees have lost all confidence that Doug can get us where we need to be.

You don't sound like a US Airways employee to me. You sound more like someone who wants to sound like a US Airways employee.
