APFA and AA Resume Talks 5/18

Same path as TWA ??? Not quite....
Anyways, Everyone has all these good ideas about contract issues like snapback clauses and getting management to stop dragging their feet.
Dont you think the unions on the property have thought of these ideas ??? You keep forgetting who you are dealing with here. I have friends who have worked in the union and have worked side by side with senior management and they have told me how they operate. It's not pretty.
Very easy to sit there and say one thing but to get it done is entirely a different ball game.
<_< ------- Hey guy, your right! -------TWA this company is not!-------- We had to deal with two bankruptcy's, freezing of our pay, and retirement, Carl Ichan, who sold off, and pocketed, most of our assets, the P.B.G.C., and finely American Airlines that through, what was left of us, under the bus! ------- What is similar is that AA thinks it can shrink it's way to Profitability! It didn't work for TWA, it won't for AA! TWA Management tried everything it could to stall it's contracts. What do you think AA is doing? Do I think your Unions thought of these things? Of course they have!------- But knowing what to do, and implementing them, can be two entirely different things! To do that, you may have to get as nasty as they are! -------- Hey! Just one man's opinion! -----As for me, I'll just kick back and enjoy the Carb. sun, and pop another Hinekins!!! B)

This company is NOT going to make the same mistakes as TWA did, I'm sure of that. And that tired old quote "shrink to profitability " is not happening here. We are grwoing in very important markets and pulling out of or replacing with eagle in certain markets. It's called running an airline.
And I'm sorry you think that AA through you guys under the bus.... Try looking at it another way in which TWA employees had a few more years of employment for some and for some many more years of employment. This senario is better than just going out of business.
Enjoy .....

<_< ------ O.K. guy! If you say so!------ As for enjoying, I am! ------ Retired in the Virgin Islands!

Hasn't seemed to have that effect on Southwest now has it? Funny how Southwest gets left out of these "Union = Lazy" spiels.UPS seems to bust butt too...
Southwest is the exception to the rule. I figure the only reason Southwest employees are even unionized is so you guy's (Legacy's
) can't dump on them so hard, but you guys still do."Down with the LLC's!!!"
It's quaint how everyone equates representation with lower productivity, like there is a cigar chomping stereotype in a smoke filled back room giving orders.
Is it "quaint"? Really? "Everyone"? Why is that?..... "Everyone"?!!! How does that go...? The majority rules.?

Prime time scenario: Three narrow body aircraft arriving at the gates in approx 10 min. ACARS reports three to four write-ups per aircraft. Each aircraft having a 30 minute turnover. One A&P assigned to narrow bodies. Six other A&P's sitting in break room reading magazines and drinking coffee, assigned to one wide body aircraft. ETA in three hours. Narrow body A&P calls for help to get the three narrow bodies turned in time. No response, Narrow body A&P returns to zone for parts again request help. Response: Not my gate. Two aircraft are cleared maintenance ready in time. The other is delayed 20 min. Narrow body A&P returns to zone to complete his log entries and get some coffee. Six wide body A&P's still reading magazines and the coffee pot is empty.

How about the highly compensated and highly motivated (Via yearly incentives) managerial team we have actually lead the company? Wringing your hands and placing the blame at the feet of labor while the company stagnates isn't a viable strategy.Fleeing from competition at every turn, doing nothing but growing the commuter partners at the expense of the mainline isn't a viable strategy either....
Isn't it amazing how "everyone" knows how to run a company?

Sure sounds like you "Know so much about the industry", railing against organized labor and blaming them for all of the ills plaguing the company.

This isn't Airliners.net.
I don't think that it is "railing" but a simple glimpse of the facts. Yes management is gluttonous and over compensated. That is Corporate America this is nothing new. All you have to do is become CEO, fire all your managers and replace them with all your buddies at their current pay rate or even a little extra and reduce your CEO pay. Wow you just saved, lets say, five percent of your budget. Now all you have to do is increase your employees pay by fifty percent, guarantee them forty hours a week, ninety days vacation not to include federal holidays and AMT Day, ninety sick days and ninety personal days. Oh yea, lets not forget that they want to only work four hours a day and only have to be actually doing something two of those hours. Lets also not forget that there should be at least fifty employees to serve every one hundred passengers.

Now if you do all of that you just might make them happy. Don't forget that the grass is always growing on the other side of the fence. The herd is always looking at the other side of the fence.

Yes I do. Whether it takes 30 days after a release or the 90 days after a release and a PEB we will strike UNLESS they take us seriously. Whatever it takes. If they want to break the company by not negotiating with us then so be it. They've already proven how badly they can mismanage a company.
