It was a joke. Given Perry's actions regarding womens rights I don't think he has a great deal of respect for women and since his position on womens rights are quite well known, it would seem his wifes opinion is quite a problem for him. When he runs for POTUS again (and you know he will) and he speaks out against a womans right to control her body this quote by his wife will come back and bite him in the ass.

I am a staunch supported of womens rights. I believe they can do anything they chose to do and should have absolute control over their own body.

OTOH, pastor said the other day, right in the middle of the sermon right in the middle of the sunday service, regarding sex between married couples, "as long as it doesn't cause either person pain, and both enjoy it, Anything Goes..."
