What's new

Are they Hypocrites?

So sky, now that Flores is gone, let's take the next step and get rid of that cabin Jumpseat nonsense.

Nice try. I dont think the membership (EAST) wants the competition for those seats. You have to remember, SFO, LAX, SAN, SYR, ORF, GSO, MIA, PIT, LGA, BOS, and, I bet I'm forgetting a few, it's 1am in the morning. But, POINT BEING, those used to be bases, ALOT OF FA's still COMMUTE from those cities. Show up at the gate, running late, and find some pilot on a cabin FA jumpseat with no recourse? Yikes.
It's been in the EAST's contract, for DECADES. it's a mindset. Cockpit jumpseat goes to pilots, Cabin FA jumpseat goes to FLIGHT ATTENDANTS.

Ok, I thought I was clear and I had assumed this was common knowledge but here goes again -

if the cabin jump is wide open (no FAs signed up for ut because they get priority for those seats) why would you be against a pilot riding in it?

Again, FAs have priority for cabin jumps.

You should ask our F/A's that same question.. They can't answer it either.

Been flying long? MOVE. It's all in the details. Say an agent clears the pilot for the jumpseat. I come running up LATE because I missed the employee bus to the terminal and now I cant get to work, some pilot got the jumpseat over me, due to the seat being released to them. Do I want that variable added to my (nightmare) commute? NO.

Who CHOSE to commute?

You have got to be kidding me. What is the percentage of time that can ever happen? I can't tell you how many people got a ride home because I volunteered to give up my seat for an empty fa seat in the last year. You east people are truly the nastiest airline workers in this country.

Genius, simply genius... In her scenario, that you commented on... both the pilot and the FA chose to commute.. Sooooo, choosing to commute is no discriminator of who should have the FA seat. But please keep weighing in.

Yes, I have been flying a long time.

Ok, so instead of it being a Pilot, let's say it's a very junior FA that's on the seat and you get there late, then what?

And when is the jump released?

If you're that late, chances are you wouldn't have gotten on anyway. If there is time, it only takes a sec to bump the pilot off the jump.

Denying pilots a potential ride home for a scenario that may occur once every 100 times is overkill.
