Why does the LEC seem like a popularity contest? Prospective candidates talk the talk during voting, then once voted in they are never heard from again. Take Mollie M. She promised to have frequent newsletters to keep us informed. Once voted in, the letters stopped. Also, she was on some extended medical(or something) so the ship had no captain. Now with Laura, well everyone knows the current scandals. I know that being in the union is a thankless job(I would never subject myself) but if you decide to step up to the plate you better come out swinging!!!
Union mebers also have to help all members, not favoring certain groups and neglecting others. Not having a RSV on the committee is just stupid. Carol A. is number one blockholder in PHL. Do you think she even has a clue/or care about reserve issues??? Having union members with their own agendas will guarentee failure.

You forgot to include the full quote, it as follows;

Those who profess to favor freedom and yet depreciate agitation, are people who want crops without ploughing the ground; they want rain without thunder and lightning; they want the ocean without the roar of its many waters. The struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, or it may be both. But it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand; it never has and it never will.

Frederick Douglas, 1857

"It doesn't require high intelligence to see these FACTS."
"I am anti stupid"

Your quotes show a need to feel superior to others, a bad trait.

Do you still pay taxes when things do not go your way in this country?
Great point....excellent quote.

Thre is no acheivement or success in anything without a struggle.

UNIONS are a justifiable reasson for "BAD MANAGEMENT"

Yes but in an increasingly declining mode.

Lots fly the labor banner here but many fail to realize labors dwindling 12% in the voting arena is fast outpaced by up and coming ethnic groups and other special interest groups with alternative agendas and votes that both dem's and repub's seek.
Who was the last dem or repub to pass meaningful labor favored legislation?? 😉

Douglass was a loyal Republican and urged African Americans to support the party. Read Douglass’ handwritten lament on the election of Grover Cleveland in the 1884 presidential election. In the 1888 campaign, Douglass criticized calls for the formation of a Negro Democratic Party and urged African American voters to support Republican candidate Benjamin Harrison.

Why did Douglass support Republican candidates during Reconstruction and the post-Reconstruction era?
What arguments did Douglass use to urge African Americans to support the Republican Party?
How did Douglass regard the 1888 Democratic Vice Presidential candidate, Alan Thurman?
Research the outcome of the 1888 election. How was the result of the election tied to Douglass’ next position?
