What's new

Attention F/A's

I'm curious..What did TH-B receive for the LOAs signed over the past year that has helped relieve the holiday understaffing "problem"? Seems like an awful lot of "power" when there are still 4000+ furloughed f/as. If that isn't another example of Co-Union collusion, I don't know what is...Just another of those things that make go hummmm when it comes to the APFA.

It's open every year for the holidays. This is not "news".

When Reserves have been sitting for days at a time the past few weeks this is news to those who want to fly option II. If your looking for news watch CNN.

Maybe you have been sitting in Miami but I can tell you LGA has been flying non stop. Also..Keep in mind, those that fly option II are not helping your fellow F/A's out especially those on furlough...If you really cared ( which doesn't say much for alot of us on the line ), you would go to HIBOARD and pickup trips...There are plenty there and some with a lot of $$$$.

What Unity?

You aren't joking there, I paid out $300 to get rid of 2 t/a's! And these didn't even touch the holidays! Flight attendants are brutal, and thank God I have another source of income!

what is the difference between OPII flying from AA and flying trips from FA's who dont want to fly but take up space on the seniority list?

I will stick with OPII its safer around the holidays

THis difference is simple...Option II flying helps out the company when they can't cover all the trips in open time, and are running short on reserves. ( Hence the reason for Option II ). If reserves are "supposedly" sitting around then why is option II even open? ie...maybe a recall is in order since we dont seem to be able to cover all the trips especially around the "flu" season?

Companies do not staff for the peaks. They staff for the average day. Makes no sense for AA to recall enough people to cover the holidays and then have everyone sitting around for 355 days out of the year.

I am guessing that most of those who are "sitting around" are international. For those of you who have not heard, there was a computer malfunction that allowed about 35,000 hours of flying dumped into the system in error from Dec 2 till the 20th. About 30k of it was on the domestic side and the rest on the Intl side. That's why we have been using allot of Intl rsvs to fly domestic sequences.

Don't worry Flyboy. OptII is merely decoration. In the bases I work, no one is flying OptII much less makeup. We are pairing up what we can and using Intl to cover the rest.

Mike, why so angry about who does or doesn't fly? That has always been one of the great things about this job, we can fly when we want (once we have the seniority) and CHOOSE not to when we need the time off! I flew high time early in my career,(at this and another airline), now that I can afford and need to be home with my teenage children (and younger) I CHOOSE to do that. When they are older or if my situation changes I will CHOOSE to go and work higher time again. Be grateful not bitter that we have this option still.

Given the choice of OE'ing a crap trip from HIBOARD or picking up a "nice" trip with incentive pay via option II, what would you do? The additional trips in Open time at this time of year are not because we are short f/a's its because of the additional sick calls during the next 2 weeks.

ding ding ding ..... MiAAmi wins the prize

MInimum hours per year is 420. These can include training sick, vacation, anything paid. Averages to about 35 hours per month.

Is there minimum hours for health benefits?

Looks like there is a minimum for flight attendants, but there isn't one for ground employees, and there should be.

What wasn't clear to me in Attachment K is how LOA's count for or against the 420 hours.

Agents and FSC's are required to work at least half of their scheduled hours, presumably to justify their benefits. Those who trade away more than 50% stand to lose their shift trading privileges.

Pensionable credit, sick time and vacation accrual are already calculated on the basis of hours worked, so it wouldn't be that much of a stretch for health benefit dollars to be calculated in a similar manner.

If AA started to reduce flex dollars for employees who barely work, you'd see a fair amount of dead wood cleared out from the seniority lists.
