Rumors flying out west that Doug may try to merge with united and move alot of their SFO/DEN flying out east and shut the east coast operation of US down since the east SUCKS so bad.

Well I think it's safe to say THIS thread will go nowhere. Save the space and close this baby. My god is this stupid. Yes stupid enough to respond to but hey it IS 1:37am in the horrible EAST.... 🙄 close this thread.

A rumor is just that, a rumor!! And this is the dumbest one I've heard by far. Close the East and you don't have an airline. 🙄

Oh my! the sky is falling. Nice try, shut down the money maker of the two. I heard that the West was going to be sold to American. I saw Doug in Dallas a couple days ago in the AA terminal with a bunch of AA suits.

Makes perfect sense to me. We all know that the east doesn't make any money, and that the center of all global airline traffic is actually PHX

Funny, but I've heard something similar. Merge with UA, sell off redundant east coast base in PHL. Move some or most of the PHL flying to IAD.

Mostly because the synergies from the merger aren't being realised because of a contentious labor force in the East hubs.

I had a dream last night that the CEO of America West Airlines (Doug Parker) had all the finance people lined up for a reverse aquisition of US Air. The plan is to take the US Air name and move the HQ to Tempe, AZ. He said in the dream that he could change the customer's opinion of US Air's (a world known name in Commercial Aviation), versus teaching them who America West Airlines was.

OH CRAP, I JUST WOKE UP!!

I heard a rumor that that the HP part of the operation was going to be auctioned off on ebay and the HP workers were being sold into slave labor in China.

Okay. Let's think about this.

Shut down PHL because it's so bad.

Then move "alot"(sic) of the DEN/SFO flying "out east."

Where, "out east" could handle this flying? Is there a super-secret hub-enabled airport somewhere on the eastern seaboard that only Doogie and UAL know about?

I thought I remember reading that United was looking to merge with someone that had a strong northeast position.

You may not be too far off. I've always thought this is one good reason for the merger. Move all of PHL to IAD and let someone else deal with PHL. Our DCA operations combined with IAD would make a powerful hub operation in the middle Atlantic States. Combine that with US/UA in LGA and BOS and we would be very powerful along the entire east coast. UA is not and will not give up SFO. Both SFO and ORD are their crown jewels right now. They run most of their trans-pacific operation out of SFO. DEN on the other hand is up for debate. I actually envision moving PHX operations to DEN in a US/UA scenario. Let LUV have PHX.
