CIO, are you on board the Self Directed Work Team concept in Tulsa?

Hey decision, I'm on board with the concept. How about you?

"What part of the concept don't you understand"?

I heard the "concessions commitee" at Local 514 has proposed having AA build a big mobile home park at Tulsa International Airport right across from the base. Employees will be allowed to live there for free. That way the TWU will agree to give up our license pay for company paid "trailer living". Since our license pay is not part of our dues calculation, the TWU keeps the dues coming in and AA gets a huge paycut from us.

That makes more sense than any weather BS. Typical twu, one station might be taking a stand on an issue, another undercuts them by taking the work. Of course, at no time does the twu leadership tell the workers the real reason for the movement of the work. Sounds like the JFK Airbus's all over again.

Brilliant!!! Management has already let it be known they want to get rid of ALL the B checks and they're actually people who want to "take a stand". Great, make managements decision easier!!

I know, you would much rather keep stroking your friends in management. Yes our twu company-unionist must always appease their masters.

Yes, we have reached the death of unionism thanks to the twu.

BTW...I thought the twu saved 12,000 jobs and has language to protect these jobs, so why should we give a sh*t what management wants. We do have that language, right???? Oh that's right we gave up everything with no guarantees, just ask the KC crowd.

I don't understand the part where you take industry leading concessions and then without a payraise volunteer to manage the company while they hoodwink you into thinking they reduced over manning in management by shuffling talking heads to other work areas.

I don't understand the part where you screw off everyday at work while at the same time teaming up with management to force the demotion of your crew chief for "poor performance".

I don't understand the part where you let a non-machinist acquire a machine shop crew chief position to fill the void left by your teaming with management to shaft your fellow crew chief union brother.

I don't understand the part where you volunteer to force your crew chief to end up testifiying in arbitration in future discipline hearings against you and your co-workers.

I don't understand the part where your union president stands before you and flat out tells you the union is in bed with the company and you either agree with this concept or you choose to ignore that statement while you blindly follow like good little sheep.

Yeah, that's right, maybe I don't understand your suck-ass union concept. Please explain your idea of unionism and the buttlick concept so that myself and the other readers with my lack of intelligence might get a grasp on this "new" brand of unionism.

I think HSS could be the same guy i had a conversation with this morning on my Dock. I asked him how low he was willing to see our wages and benefits tumble, and without hesitation he replied "WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO SAVE HIS JOB" This person has almost 20 years with AA and is willing to sell out at all cost. Sadly i suspect here in tulsa he is among hundreds if not thousands who have this same mind set. He blindly supports the TWU/AA and would cross a picket line without a second thought. UNIONISM is dead here in TULSA!

The sad truth is that most in TUL, and probably elsewhere, have not felt the pressure "relief" of leaving their workplace on their final day prior to furlough.

The relief is knowing you no longer have to wait to be unemployed, you realize it is time to provide for your family. THERE IS LIFE BESIDES AA. A lot of homes being built by people who do NOT work for AA.

It's time to fight, time to get out of the "pajama" parties and get dressed in your union clothing.

A lot of homes being built by people who do NOT work for AA.

There are a lot of homes being built buy guys with no health insurance or pension benefits. No way to grieve, no work rules other than what your foreman says. Go work some place else, you'll be shocked right back into reality.

I guess this means you will not be joining in with the rest of us. "Oh well", I should have known better than to think you may have had anything positive to offer.

By the way, in reference to the "in bed together thing". How is the management positions working out for McCormick and Delle over at NW???? B)

How can wage and benefit concessions and layoffs be positive?

Its really quite simple Buck, You see the ones at the top get raises and bonus'es when they negotiate concessions and as far as layoffs are concerned well I suspect AA will tell the Lap Dog Union that they preserved as many jobs as possible considering the dire straits we are in and if they dont like it AA can farm it all out <_<

Ahh the Masters of False Bravado!!! Yes we have language to protect these jobs now. I think it would be in everyone's interest to keep this language in our next contract. Then again I don't work a B check line so maybe we should trade this away Amfa style for higher pay. After all, Amfa says we're "not an Employment agency"!

Hey Amfaman why don't you tell all of us how the big bad amfa fought for the mechanics at Ual. They were so valiant at the negotiation table!! No "Stroking" there!! They fought!! NOT!!!

Yeah, the truth always is something you want to avoid at all cost. Bury your head in the sand and hope the company union saves your sorry ass.

Management positions at NW? What are you talking about?

Are you talking about the listing that gives them travel benefits?
Or have you once again blindly followed what someone else has told you without checking for verification?

I'll bet you still believe the TWA Mechanics were stapled to the bottom of our seniority list and they were all laid-off before you watch 700+ of your Tulsa co-workers hit the street?
