Bachmann promises $2 gas

Did I say anything about people who use trucks and/or vans for a business? I did not so please stop with the "Should I go shopping in 4 banger to make you feel better?" crap.

That guy who spent $70 in gas for his Suburban, chances are he was not using it for a business. Who would spend that kind of money on an SUV for hauling stuff around when you can get a van or a truck for much cheaper AND have more carrying capacity?

So I am well aware that there are people who drive trucks or vans for business reasons. However most people who drive around in SUV's, and more than a few pick truck owners, do not need them. It's more of a statement of "Look how much money I make", or in a lot of cases "Look how much debt I put myself in" than actual need.

That's a pretty bigoted statement.
Maybe you should dictate what people should drive then we will all be equal.

However, like Animal Farm, SOME will be more equal than others. More of the wit and wisdom of the progressive "I've never met someone I couldn't tax and give his money to someone else."

People are delusional if they think drilling in ANWR is going lower gas prices to $2 a gallon. It simple math really, and some cold hard facts. The US has about 3% of the world’s oil reserves and uses 24% of that. We consume 19 million barrels a day, at its peak oil production from ANWR might be 800,000 barrels a day. Of course that peak production won't happen overnight and when it does worldwide consumption will have risen.

That brings up another set of facts. The price of oil is set on the world market, not on the US market. If OPEC feels that the price of oil is going to fall to much all they have to do is cut production. Then there are other facts like the value of the dollar, all the drilling in the world will have no effect on that. Or natural disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes etc. Then there are wars that bring uncertainty which brings about higher prices.

You talk about lower gas prices allowing more money being available in a consumer driven economy. Here's one way you could do that, drive more efficient cars. The other day I filled up at my local Costco. The person in front of me driving had a Chevy Suburban and put $70 worth of gas. My four banger took a little over $30. Driving away I had close to $40 more in which to spend on something else. Try saying that we as the American people have a role in this as well and see what happens.

Funny thing...a President lifts a ban on drilling and global oil prices dropped?

Its about global supply whether or not we have 3%..............its 3 % more on the global marketplace.

You had close to $40 to spend and bring home $32 worth of goods.

What happens when OPEC reduces production to maintain supply levels and protect their income?

And how much has oil gone down in price? Is gas $2 a gallon yet? The recent drops can be attributed more to economic worries, i.e. less demand, and the fall of the Gadaffi, i.e. a bit more stability.

They will stay high while Rocky Bama continues to devalue the dollar. They will come down some, but I doubt as low as 2008/9.....It takes more dollars to buy a barrel of oil now than then......another reason to keep Rocky Bama.

The value of the dollar is part of the equation there's no doubt about that. The value of which has been falling for a while now. This does not change the fact that one person does not have control over the price of oil and that we had better look in the mirror before we start placing blame.

God grief. I hope it never gets that low again.

I agree and once we finish looking in the mirror we should all write the Empty Suit a 7 word letter, "DRILL BABY DRILL, or be voted out"his goes double for the Empty Suit's attempt to shutter coal fired plants via the EPA instead of the constitutional channel of presenting legislation to Congress.

Hey why let a little thing like the Constitution get in the way?? Wait until these regulations take effect and the net result is rolling brown outs. All the Progressives who know what's best for you will be up in arms as their 4,000 sq foot McMansions will have the Air con set at 80 by law.

Not in favor of drilling but if they do it needs to come with a conservation plan. Other wise all it does is postpone the inevitable.

I see in the mirror many gulf state oilmen out of work.......I see vast sums of money spent in Alaska on exploration stopped dead in its tracks.....I see mid west oil shale being muzzled....I see US oil production dropping the world oil price if implemented...... I see a green agenda gone terribly wrong......I see:

ITS TIME FOR CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN

Drill Baby Drill is not the singular answer to the price of gas. In an earlier post it was asked "What can one man do" I assume referring to Obama. Well here are some things a POTUS acting alone can and IMO should do.

Step back in time to the days of JFK and instead of a man on the moon the goal is 100% Energy Independence by 2022.

Use the worlds largest Bully Pulpit to encourage conservation as part of the battle against global terrorism. Further challenge car makers to do better or be forced to do so.

Inform his cabinet level staff to "Back off" regulations and to come up with a "Fast Rack" permitting process within 60 days. This fast track process would not just apply to oil and natural gas but hydroelectric, Geo-thermal, coal, nuclear, solar, wind and emerging technology as well,

This is IMO no longer a nice thing to have but rather a necessity in term of national security and economic growth. These actions alone could easily drop the price of gas in the upper $2.00 range.

Here ya Hawk, but US producing more oil has a immediate impact on world oil prices plus a whole lot of jobs here. You know that.

Why is this admin catering almost exclusively to 3rd world oil?
