Each time US Airways Chairman David Bronner met face-to-face this year with the airline's pilots and flight attendants, Bruce Lakefield sat silently to Bronner's right. It was a familiar spot for the former Lehman Bros. executive, who in the last 12 months has evolved into what Bronner calls his "right hand" on the US Airways board.
