A different Kind of Thread:

Let's start talking about which companies are the GOOD ones to work for and Why?Maybe if the Good Guys get some good PR, then the fly-by-nighters will pull up their socks and improve conditions for their staff. So let's hear from you!

Well, now there's a subject! bearing in mind that how good many companies are depend on personalities - the good ones I have personal experience of include, in terms of good guys to work with, in no particular order:

Remote
Yellowhead
Cougar
CHC Intl

PM me for the bad ones

Had a friend..honestly....that was with Custom and liked the way jimmy and Brian treated him..

Why use names?

Any company, that can offer you what your looking for, type of flying, style of flying, tour length, payscale, is a good choice. All Operator's have their own 'perks' Whom is best? Well, lets leave that for your own decision, we all have the good and bad storey's about present and past employers. You must ask yourself, what am I looking for in my job? Some employers that one might recommend, others will frown, that is this business!! Just because one employer can't give you a job, dosen't make them bad, maybe their roster is full, maybe you don't have the skills, I see that everyday. Just keep trying!

Forget about the best companies, it's the people you work with that matter more. I think there will always be concerns about money, or rotations etc that vary greatly from every individual employee. Three weeks could be two weeks too long for some, while others are quite happy with 6 or more. $3000/month someone could live in the lap of luxury, someone else might be borderline bankrupt.
But if your co-worker/tent buddy are royal pains in the butt to each other, it can make the whole experience a different ball game.
I enjoyed working with many fellow employees at CHL and felt that was what made them a great place to work.

Geez Mag,

That brings a tear to my eye!!

You are right, the people make the difference!

T-Rex...I remember on a few occasions you brought tears to my eyes, and it wasn't from joy or happiness. 😀 At least it was repairable....

Peace was the best! (Pre Northern Mountain) I've contracted arount lots of companys trying to find that magic again, now i've found it at MUSTANG!!!

Celebrating their 20th Anniversary, Great Slave is without a doubt the Best in Canada.

My experience at Great Slave Helicopters was nothing less than fantastic! Great people, great machines, awsome locations!

Gemini Helicopters has been even better for the business opertunities they offer their long term employees!

Working at Canadian Helicopters was a great experience because I learned what it's like to work for the bottom of the barrel! Like Maggie said, there was great people but management was incompetent, and even among the emplyees, it was crap morale, backstabing and petty jealousy all year round. Best thing I could've done for my career was get the he** out of there!

I had a chance to see one of Alpines newest overhauled 212's and it must be the nicest 212 around the country. Very nice equiptment.

Even their oldest 212 would be one of the nicest in the country. Alpine take pride in the aircraft they maintain and operate.

Their employees have a work schedule months in advance, in this industry it is hard to plan a week in advance.

There are a lot of great operaters out there. I am treated really well at CHC International (into my 12th year).

I had the pleasure to work for Heliqwest. They have great machinery and great folks to work with. I would work for them in a monent notice.
