No mention on the TV web site as of now, but if so probably a disgruntled customer......and there are many of those this week.

Let's hope it's not true though.....

Plane quarantined Charlotte-Douglas International Airport

Passengers aboard a US Airways flight from New Orleans that just landed in Charlotte have been quarantined after someone on board claimed he had exposed everyone to smallpox, Charlotte/Douglas officials say.

The health department authorized local paramedics to take that person – who US Airways official say was intoxicated – off Flight 1014 to be tested. Meanwhile, under federal guidelines, all 113 passengers must stay put until the threat can be confirmed or proven false.

Medic says it will take up to two hours to complete that test.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, the Mecklenburg County Health Department, and US Airways officials are on the scene. From AirStar6, officials in full hazmat suits could be seen walking to and from the plane.

The passenger was transported to Carolinas Medical Center for the test.

I hope that the test will come back negative. Wouldn't all flights that left MSY have to be quareenteened (sp.?)? Being that he had to walk thru the airport, and passengers on other flights be possibly affected.

No, if he kept the bacteria sealed up until he was on the plane. I have a feeling this is just another drunk who got refused another round.

Let's hope they put him UNDER the jail.

The local news just reported that the hospital cleared the psgr but CDC is in charge of scene & said it would be at least 2 hours before any one can leave.

Just the kind of publicity US needs this week....

Let's hope it is over soon and before the national news gets it.

My best to you all...

Well there's a couple of news choppers hovering over the CLT airport, as we speak, so I'm sure it will at least be a blurb somewhere, footage of full hazmat gear going to airplane and back out always makes for an interesting news clip

I stand corrected--just saw it. What kind of sick mind would do that if not really infected?

The same sort of sick individuals who phone in bomb threats. Happens all the time.

The real question is this: What sort of feeble mind would actually believe him and put everyone thru such a charade?

they have to believe him in such an instance, due to what if it was true......hence the quarantining of the aircraft...

Each passenger that was on the plane should have their turn with the drunk, but he will be innocent until proven guilty. Sometimes the most obvious crap gets protected.

I agree, like the two stupid kids, that got on a plane (in phl I think) last week and stated they thought the pilots looked drunk. Whoops the flight was canceled, and kids were removed.

Hope they had emptied the lavs today... and had a well-catered plane. I wonder if the CDC would let the plane be catered in some way?
