* Three United B767-300s currently stored at Marana, N648UA [25285],
N654UA [25392], and N656UA [25394], have all been re-leased to United
and are expected to depart soon.

KEEP'EM COMING! More widebodies I love it. Now if we could get some 747F's.

Maybe JFK 767 pilots will now get the London trip back tha went to a 777 when the 767 lease problems occurred!

Why would UA want a 777 & a 767 from Jfk - LHR when 2 777 are far better against BA, Virgin & AA.

Because they used to have the 767 on certain departures, and moved it to a 777 when the leases were in jeopardy. Those 777's were better served on other routes. (ie: more $$$) Slots in LHR are valuable and frequency must be maintained, even at the cost of putting a less than ideal gauge aircraft on the route.

Not arguing the fact that the 777 is a better plane. Only the economics of it.

Plus the JFK based 767 pilots took a hit when the flying went to the 777.

I would hope they bring back the ORD-EZE which was lost when the planes went.

It's certainly good news that these aircraft are coming back. It's also no surprise. We all know that UA's long-term strategy is to continue to grow international flying, especially in the growing regions of Asia. It's also well-known that, with the exception of some seasonal gauge and frequency tweaking, in order to fund significant international growth, UA will need more widebodies. That's why I expect that at some point shortly after emergence from Chapter 11, we'll start hearing whispers of talks on acquiring aircraft.

A quick update on the 767s... 648UA and 656UA are still at MZJ, but 654UA returned to revenue flying on the 16th. ORD-EZE is scheduled to begin again mid-December, but unfortunately ORD-AMS and SFO-CDG-SFO go away at the end of October. Hopefully, it will just be for the winter.

I heard through the grapevine that UA might use 757 equipment across the pond. Anyone else hear anything like that?
