Buddy Passes

Look folks...Buddy passes are a source of revenue. Think about it..space available, high cost. We are the suckers...buddy passes are a fund for managements salaries...that's all...................

are buddy passes a negociated item?

did the iam PIGS have anithing to do with this?

i remember companion passes for active employees only (4 per yr) now the wife can get them for her boyfriend even without your presence

then the union fought for companion passes for retirees and got it., after that the sinners,,infidels (significant others) came in and got theirs , was this an IAM negociated item?

700uw;

what do you know about this?

Once again don't let the facts get in your way, first you insult then want information and spread misinformation.

Buddy passes are not a negotiated item in any contract. Guess you never picked up your contract and actually read its contents?

It is begining to sound like you are not an employee if you don't know the basic facts.

HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!! It is a privilege not a right!!!

Buddy passes are still good for one thing: One-Way Travel. Most discounted tickets are far cheaper and more reliable than buddy passes, but they also require a round-trip purchase. One-way buddy passes are still usually cheaper than that R/T discounted fare (assuming the return portion would be trashed.)

A while back a friend asked for a buddy pass to travel SFO-LGA-SFO on short notice (8 days.) I got the info and the buddy pass was going to cost $295. Not too bad, but I called JetBlue with his travel dates and they offered a $286 R/T OAK-JFK. I called my friend with the good news (that he wouldn't have to stop in PIT, CLT, or OMIGOD PHL!) and that his seat would be reserved, rather than bottom-of-the-heap-standby. He went online to reserve the seat and found an online $10 discount, making the price $276. $19 cheaper than a miserable buddy pass for a non-stop, in-flight TV, reserved seat.

I never mentioned buddy passes again to friends or family. Those tickets are all but useless.
