And ladies and gentlemen, before we get into fisticuffs over "MY STATION IS BETTER THAN YOURS," I think we all agree that not all stations are created equal, some happen to bring more revenue than others but that does not diminish their importance.
JFK for other US carriers as well as for AA has always been a key station because it happens to be in NYC. It's demographics and reflects the city's diverse population. NY is still the financial hub of the world.
With that said, every station brings a certain value to AA's system in its own way. But I think when we start speaking of facility closures, I personally think it means AA is looking to cut the Class 2 stations as maintenance facilities and not necessarily city closures.
