Continental sent a letter to all of their furloughed flight attendants telling them that should be expected to be recalled in the first quarter of 2005. Good news for them!

Wonderful news! However, isn't this directed mostly at voluntary furlough people? I didn't think they had very many, if any, involuntary furloughees. Do you know how many f/as are on furlough right now?

Will CAL be hiring new mainline flight attendants in 2nd q. 2005? That would make them the first mainline, legacy carrier to do so wouldn't it?

As somebody from a Midwestern milltown, "CAL to recall all..." are beautiful words, whether or not the furlough was voluntary.

There are a few involuntary furloughees on the seniority list, as well as some voluntary furloughees still out. Involuntary furloughs must accept recall when the company informs them there is a permanent vacancy on the system. These particular furloughed FA's have been out since shortly after 9/11. There is still "talk" that there will be new hire classes sometime next year after the recalls have been completed, but no definitive numbers have been given as of yet.
