The people claiming Sen. Wellstone was murdered say his plane was brought down with a 'directed energy weapon'. The say it could have completely wiped out the planes electrical systems including the propeller regulators.

They also claim it would have takenout the CDI. altimeter, airspped gauge etc

Any truth to this?

Although they sound like something out of Buck Rodgers the DoD spends millions trying to develop these weapons, but Idon't think they have any working models yet.

Punch in "NICOLA TESLA" into your web browser. You might find your answers there. Tesla invented the modern world from radio to the basic logic circuits that led to todays computers. This guy was "THE" genius.

I agree that Tesla was a genius, but this has nothing to do with my question. Try to keep your replies 'on topic' 🙂

Tesla's "death ray" device, particle beam weapon or directed energy weapon

Satellite photo of Soviet Tesla beam weapon station. If the Soviets were working on it,you know the U.S. was also. As far as a King Air flying without electrical power,Yes it's designed to stay in the air with a total electrical failure.

I know Tne US, Soviets and other countries have been working on these waepons for decades but haven't seen evidence of something that could have brought down the Wellstone plane even being close to being operationial.

Thanks for the info about the King Air. How do you know, are you a pilot?

I'm both a mechanic and a pilot. King Airs are powered by turbo props except for rare few that were converted to the Orenda piston engine. Once a jet or Turbo-prop has been started, the engine(s) is self sustaining(no electrical ignition source needed). Some jets and turboprops do have a provision for leaving the starting ignitors on in flight. This just a precaution against having a "flameout".

Thanks again! See the question I asked about airspeed.

Last time I heard that conspiracy theory, it was JFK Jr.

I don't believe that such a weapon (capable of frying an aircraft's electrical system from miles away without simultaneously blowing every circuit breaker in town or otherwise giving itself away) exists. And if it did exist, there are less exotic ways to kill someone whose schedule you know. Also if it did exist, I don't believe it would bring a King Air down, as Kida has explained.

Oh, one more point -- such a weapon would leave the electronics fried. They would have been tested as part of the investigation, along with all of the other instrumentation and controls. Did the accident report mention anything like that?

Why would someone go to the lengths of using a "ray gun" both money and electric power would be astronomical. Most terrorist would just use a cheap and reliable stinger or soviet built SAM and that would still be a long-shot. My opinion is, the plane just crashed

That's too simple,s10trav. Don't you know you have to have a conspiracy when things like this crash happen. I have an Uncle who was a Dallas cop in the presidential motorcade at the time JFK was assasinated. He says Oswald was the only gunman and if there was a conspiracy Oswald wasn't a part in it. He said Oswald just beat the conspirators to the punch. Needless to say I'm sick of conspiracy theories.
