Workers can wear a pin or tie, according to gate worker Jim Drummond, who saw the memo, but they have to keep it conservative. Employees can't paint themselves black and gold or wear a Ben Roethlisberger T-shirt over their US Airways uniform, the Paris, Washington County, resident said.

I remember when I used to fly weekly on AA, the gate agents in PIT would wear Steelers wear (ie a sweatshirt or t-shirt, not a jersey or body paint on Sunday. Didn't bother me, but I guess I can see where it's a slippery slope...

What's the harm in showing some civic pride? Lord knows you all deserve something to be excited about!

By the way, for what it's worth, WN employees are allowed to wear collegiate football jerseys/hats on Saturdays, and NFL ones on Sundays....

Just another Uncle Al screw up! How is it this man is still employed here! This should have been an all out media blitz to show hometown pride. Allow everyone to dress in Steelers T-shirts, sweat shirts, hats, etc. Then invite the media out to see our hometown pride. Instead, we gave the Post Gazette another opportunity to write another negative article bashing US Airways.

Uncle Al........get the @#$@ out already!

Thinking about this has really irked me even more. Why not play up the Steelers being in the playoffs? Signs on the concourse "Welcome to Steeler Country", help organize a tailgate party for the employees to boost morale and ensure they come to work on game day. Employees decked out in Steeler attire wouldn't hurt a thing, costs the company nothing and is a shot in the arm for employee morale. Why couldn't they have done the same type of things in PHL for the Eagles Games?

WAKE UP CCY! IT IS TIME TO THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX AND REWARD YOUR EMPLOYEES! Allowing some Steeler Spirit at the ATO costs you nothing.

Get over it will you, are the Steelers all you have to live for? The rest of the world could care less about the Steelers. I cant wait to see all the bridge jumpers when Us air is out business and the Steelers screw up in the play offs. A passenger is turned off by your narrow minded fetishes- Steeler fans are worse than the 320 guy---- they need to get a life! 😉

Once again some people just dont get the big picture. It isnt about "the Steeler fans" or any other teams fans, its about letting the EMPLOYEES show pride in something that means something to them and NOT COSTING THE COMPANY ANYTHING IN THE PROCESS. Instead, no, we cant allow you all to enjoy anything that might be misconstrued as having fun at work. You must wear your pall bearer uniforms today and like it.
Anyone wanna bet that not only will WN be allowing their people (even in the non playing city) to not only wear their jerseys, but to allow them to have some kind of party at work to make sure they come in and have a good time instead of staying home to watch the game. (And before anyone says that calling out is wrong, I agree, but I can see where this is going to be headed and you'd think that after all the recent fiascos and PHL Phactor during Eagles games SOMEONE in CCY would get a clue.....)
Once again showing the difference between management and leadership IMO. SOSO.

PS-Yes I saw your winky face, but believe there are those here who would actually believe seriously what was posted.

This has been the USAir philosophy for years. Under no circumstance is anyone permitted to come to work and have some fun or enjoy the time. This was a slap in the face to us after the buy out of PSA. We were encouraged to enjoy the work time and be "individuals" rather than a group of "mortuary workers". Still have the left overs from the old regime in CCY that could not think "out of the box" if their life depended on it. Just shows what "non-airline" management can do to an airline company. They truly dont understand when we interact with our customers, WE are the FACE of USAir...not them.

How anybody can give a rats *ss about major league sports is beyond me. A bunch of multi-zillionaires spoiled brats wanting to $100+ to see them play for couple hours. But it seems people have no problems spending $300-500 for an afternoon at the ball park, yet get PO's if they have to spend more than $99 on a transcontinental flight. Shows you have uttery screwed up our society is.

...And we all know how bad morale is at Southwest, right? What's also lost here, I think, is the fact that most of your customers in Pittsburgh are going to be Steelers fans, and visible signs of support for the home team give the impression that you're the "hometown airline." How much do you want to bet that you're going to see WN employees at PIT dressed in Steelers jerseys and hats next fall, especially given their sponsorship of the NFL? Heck, Southwest even gives prizes for costumes and decorated gate areas at Hallowe'en -- and look at all the money they're losing!

Are there not bigger issues to worry about right now?

Not really. Employee morale is just as important as anything else.

MMW since being on these boards for a few years one can get to know personalities, and yours Mark was the easy going lets give them a chance oh hmm type of guy, but I see lately many once calm rational posters have morphed into wolverines....funny how psychological warfare can change a man...It's really good to be on the outside looking in, you guys who are over stressing should really come on over to my side, it's so much nicer

Curt/cavalier/deano after my son Dean.

Yea and our unions and the company are trying to convince us that SWA is the enemy!!!!

We are fighting so hard and giving up so much to "save" ourselves from SWA!!!!!!

"You dont need better pay, better benifits and a fun work enviornment. You need lower pay, less benifits and a worse enviornment, vote YES and we will save you from SWA"

Boy, doubt the "Dr" part but the rest of your name, you got right, oh Evil one. What do YOU care about? Don't put down others because you are incapable of understanding team spirit, pride etc. Nothing narrow minded about enjoying a sporting event and having pride for the success of the Steelers!! Your the one that comes off pretty narrow minded. Go STEELERS!!!
