RICHMOND, BC, Sep 15, 2003 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) -- The British Columbia Aviation Council ("BCAC") is pleased to announce that its Annual Conference, taking place this year at Harrison Hot Springs Resort, will feature presentations by a strong slate of eminent aviation speakers. These include, Don Carty, President and CEO of American Airlines and Dr. R. John Hansman, Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Walt Gillette, Boeing Vice-President for the new Boeing 7E7 program will speak to the conference about the proposed super-fuel efficient 7E7 aircraft.

Other prominent names include, Peter Smith, President of the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada, Cliff MacKay, President of the Air Transport Association of Canada, and Roland Dorsay, President of the Canadian Airports Association. Altogether, over 15 speakers will give their views on "The Next 100 Years" in the fascinating world of Aviation.

Also highlighting this year's conference will be a 2-hour airshow, to be flown over Harrison Lake, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Friday, September 26th. The airshow will commemorate the 100th anniversary of flight, and feature flying displays ranging from World War I vintage aircraft to a demonstration by the new Canadian Air Force search and rescue Cormorant helicopter, and locally designed and manufactured Murphy Moose sports floatplane of Chilliwack. Also included will be parachutists, ultra light floatplanes, water bombers and a special aerobatic display by John Mrazek in his Harvard 'Pussycat'. The Fraser Blues, a four-plane Navion aircraft formation team will close what promises to be an exciting afternoon airshow at the beach. The public is welcome and beach chairs are recommended.

Commenting on the Conference, BCAC's Jerry Lloyd said: "This will be our most exciting conference ever. We have a superb line up of speakers and panels, and of course this exciting airshow. We are also excited to hear from Dr. R. John Hansman, Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology will look into the future with his opening keynote address entitled "The Next 100 Years".

The Conference will open on Wednesday, September 24th, with our Chairman's Reception hosted by BC Lieutenant Governor, Iona Campagnolo, and run to the evening of Friday, September 26th. For further information, please contact the BCAC office.

C'mon, just because some PR flunky doesn't edit their press release (what date was this released anyway?) and now we've got a new conspiracy-theory thread.

You, and we, are all better than that. Reading that post was a waste of time.

(waving ruler) Where are your knuckles wingna???

Awwwww come on! It was great fun!! It's one of two things, either some publicity guru didn't do his homework, or DC is still trying to pass himself off as the PCEO of AA for monetary gain.

In any event, I had an even better chuckle seeing DC referred to as an "eminent aviation speaker" - that was rich!
