Just finished booking my holiday plans. Found a good price on a UA/DL combination on Orbitz, but instead chose to book AA at 25% higher price. Its worth the extra money not to take the chance of getting stuck and ruin my holiday at the will of the flight attendants.

Anyway, in my case, it sure works!!

I think UAL and US Air managements have run the airlines in CHAOS mode for several years themselves. They don't need the FAs to show them how.

Delta flight attendants are non union (at least for now) so there is no flight attendant CHAOS at Delta.

What you say is true, but so what? It doesn't address Segue's point.

The OP said "a UA/DL combination," which I read as saying at least one segment was on UA. And just the public chest-beating by those who want to go down in a blaze of glory is enough to increase the already big problem of book-away.

So rather than risk being stranded due to a labor action by UA employees, the OP chose to spend more at AA. AA isn't almost out of money and it employees aren't publicly talking about shutting it down.

Thats right - the outbound leg was UA, return was DL.

Think about it - what would you do? So I pay $50 more ($298 vs. $249) - its my holiday and I don't want it disrupted even if its a small chance.

With the the strike vote making the press, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Hey Segue, would you like to buy some moon rocks? How about real pixie dust? I've got a real treasure map.... Hey, I know the wife of a dead Nigerian Millionare, and for just a few hundred thou, you'll get millions....

I figure with your last "rational" action, you'd jump on one of them...

Lets see, the voting doesn't even close until around the 30th of Dec. Your outbound leg would have been on UA, with the return on DAL..... 🙄 🙄

That's right. Belittle the passenger at every opportunity. That will make them stay with you. Telling the customer they are not rational puts a stop to the old book away problem everytime.

I was at a restaurant the other day, and I could hear the conversation at the next table. There were two couples seating there. One of the man, a self appointed travel/computer expert, was advising his friends, the other couple, not to use us for travel, since "United is on strike". After dinner, according to him, everybody was going to go over his house, and he was going to go on the internet and find them "a cheap fare on Jet Blue". How about that? The couple about to travel, bought it like it was Gospel.
The point is, lots of people dont pay attention or read newspapers. When the news filters down to them is highly distorted. And threats of strike alone, will hurt the company.
Why in the world anyone will want to do that, at this time, is beyond my understanding. Must be the same people that believe UA has 'two sets of accounting books', or any other conspiracy theory.
There is no MONEY people, for whatever reason or whoever fault! Dont matter now. The fact is, we are bankrupt and no one will lend us money unless we meet their conditions. What part we just dont understand?

Exactly - the amount of money is small, and in the middle of making the decision, you hear something about a strike. Not really necessary to dig down futher, if there is a strike, who knows if the UA will be around so its good to start to build my loyalty on AA. I'm only a regular member right now - but the way my work travel schedule looks for the future, its time to consider other options.

Pretty much typical attitude of UA employees! Blame the passenger for trying to find the best option. Blame the passenger for driving down yields!!!

Glad to hear threats of Chaos may be working!

Well, if your goal was to try to disrupt your employer's revenue when it needs it most, then I guess "Congrats to you" are in order. Well done.

That is the general idea, or did I miss something.

People pay for value and an extra $50 is nothing compared to listening to whining flight attendants while they sit on the jump seat and read thier newspaper and talk about how bad life is at UAL.

You obviously don't care if you have a job or not. Of course you can always stand on the street corner with a sign

That's not really my concern, Borescope.

AA191...I can't speak for segue, but I think he/she made it pretty clear that his choice was about security.
