Charging For ?

frankly i think selling pillows and blankets is not a bad idea. as long as you sell a good product. the company should get together with the likes of bed bath and beyond and sell a nice pillow and blanket pack for a charge of $7 .

Yeah, and we can use some famous designer to endorse them like we did when we had Wolfgang Puck meals. How about the Martha Stewart design line of pillows and blankets.

Put vending machines in the terminals that dispense packages of pax convience items at the swipe of a credit card or cash injection. No airline employees needed. Hey if you take this idea I want 10%.

OR, we could start charging for farts? $1 per air vent that has to be activated once a fart is released, either aft or front of the row of dispersal.

LOL.

And for the lavs, US could have sort of a "pay as you go" (pun intended) system. So, if you just have to tinkle, and are like most of the trailer trash onboard and don't wash your hands after taking care of your business, you can get in and out on the cheap...say $0.25. Soap will be $0.50 a squirt; a cold water rinse, $0.75; a warm rinse $1.00. Oh, and don't forget paper towels. You can wipe your hands on your (no doubt cutoff) jeans, or you can dry your hands for $0.10 a sheet.

But if you're dropping the kids off at the pool, then it will cost you $2.00 per turd.

Wait...here's an idea. 10,000 Dividend Miles for a year's lav access.

This practically takes my breath away. This is Peoples Express all over again and it sickens me that the idiot-boy Doug Parker thinks that pax pockets are his for the picking. Your have cut everything to the bare minimums as it is. I fly on Delta, AA, Continental, NW quite often and the USAir service is a joke. Can you hear me now Doug? You are a joke in this industry. You offer tickets that are comparable in price to other airlines but offer substandard service. Dirty trailer park service.
Is that the legacy you want?
Well you got it.

frankly i think selling pillows and blankets is not a bad idea. as long as you sell a good product. the company should get together with the likes of bed bath and beyond and sell a nice pillow and blanket pack for a charge of $7 . sell them at the gate before you board. that way you will have a nice clean pillow and blanket and not one with hair all over it. if you really want a pillow and blanket then pay for it. but it should be good quality. same goes with high end beverages. it's the way the industry is going . you cvan't hide from it. a cashless system onboard is a good idea to. (true ,some cabin crewmembers may be taking a paycut by going cashles 😉 )but hey, can't have it all.
this is a GREAT idea! I have stated we charge for pillow & blanket for over a year...that way people will take them with them and we won't have to pick up the damm things...I say cashless is good as well charge the people that wanted cheep fairs for everything then maby we can get our pay back...yea right...

This is an interesting topic, but unfortunately it only proves my point--management is scrambling to raise revenue because they are failing at what should be the core competency of the airline--making money by transporting people, luggage and cargo. They are unable to manage costs (the high cost of cheap), so they are angling for every penny they can get, often stepping over dollars in the process.

If they could run an EFFICIENT operation, with RELIABLE service (admittedly that is improving), and find a way to reduce unneccesary costs, they wouldn't need to nickel and dime people. Now they are even SELLING elite status --- a total embarrassment. Admittedly, though that is the ONLY way they have of showing steady numbers in the Preferred ranks....

I just shrug my shoulders and shake my head.....what's next? Charging for meals or for hanging coats in F? OH right..no more closets.....

Can't wait to see the new Airbus 330's with 385 seats.....

My BEST to you all.....

Most people in coach wouldn't miss them if they took them all off.

You're joking, right? Your passengers must be a lot different from mine. They get on the airplane in December in St. Louis wearing shorts, T-shirt, and flip-flops (they don't want to have to go to the room and change when they get to Orlando). They immediately start complaining that they are freezing and they need a blanket. Problem is, they are in group 6 (last to board). The people in Groups 2 and 3 who are dressed the same have already taken 2 or 3 blankets per person to wrap up in, fold one for a pillow, and put the other one behind them ("I have a bad back and I need the support.").

I absolutely agree with the sales of pillows and blankets. 100%! ! Though there are low fares to be had in coach I do not think our fares are THAT low to justify selling beverages. I think what we are seeing here is NOT innovation but a management team that is grabbing at straws to bring in the dough. We have a failed model and though we have been profitable it's declining. The upper management is running out of ideas. How is the advertising going for the barf bags? Companies beating down the door? I can't believe this place. 🙄

I think it's a good idea too. But as a preferred member, even Silver, I'd want the option to pay for every amenity with FFmiles and have them deducted from my card.... easy.... one FFM equals one penny.

That might work, but in order to appeal to US' new target audience, the designer should be Larry the Cable Guy. Stich "Git yer farts in here!" on the blanket and you'll sell a bundle each flight!

Maybe in the event of weather diversions they should tell the passengers that due to increased fuel costs every additional mile will be at a charge of $1.00 a mile per passenger and that unless every passenger inserts a valid credit card into the slot in the seat back in front of you in the next 10 minutes the engines will shut off.

It's hard not to advocate getting rid of the pillows and blankets when the ones we do have to provide are so disgustingly filthy. Personally, I prefer to keep them as an amenity, but jeez can we get some cleans ones already?

Spirit Airlines charges for sodas and checked baggage. But they don't have any $1,000 coach fares, so I don't know what US is thinking.
🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 Well finally somebody said it....Us deosnt HAVE low fares like the true LCC's do...They are hit and miss and mostly unavailable. What a FREAKIn mess. US never had a clue as to who they really were- and either does TEMPE!

 I think if you're reading this post, but didn't watch the video, you probably need to
What i heard was this. "we're always looking at different ways". To me, that means, "yea, we've thought about it", "we look into it", "it's something we've considered". 😱 I never understood it to mean that "yes, it's coming". Just my two cents worth on this topic thats all! 😀
